Very disappointed in the aircraft - old aircraft with old entertainment system . The seats were well worn and narrow for business class . Food was usual - nothing spectacular. Same menu for years - no change . Choice of wine was cheap and average . I would choose Qatar over Etihad as they have new planes

With Etihad it’s a “hit-and-miss”depending on the aircraft. As a frequent user of Etihad my preferences are the A380 and 787-10 2 class version. I understand your disappointment with the 777-300 ER, they need to update their business class seating. I have not tried the Airbus 350 yet but it seems much better.
Food is below average and the menu needs to be revised. Personally I use the business class lounges before departing and during layover and avoid food during the flight as I am a good sleeper.
Your assessment is quite accurate regarding the Abu Dhabi lounge. Whatever the time of day or night the buffet is always well appointed in food and drinks and the whole area is fairly quite and large enough to avoid promiscuity like some overcrowded European or Chinese lounges.
