This ticket was initially booked as a business class ticket using Emirates's cash+miles offer. However, a nice little surprise would show up later on!
The journey started off from my home in Dubai where I was picked up by the Emirates Chauffeur Business Class Limousine service.

I was dropped off at the First and Business Class Departure area reserved only for Emirates passengers.

First and Business Class passengers have a separate check in area with a private security screening which made the process of check in and security a breeze.

I then took the underground terminal train that takes you to Terminal A and headed straight in to the Emirates Business Class Lounge.

The Business Class Lounge is a beauty of its own spanning across the entire terminal floor with several dinning ,lounging and resting areas. The walk from one end to other felt like a marathon.

The lounge was really peaceful due to its vast size even with a generous crowd it still felt spacious and comfortable.

There were numerous dining areas but I opted to dine at the one closest to the gate as I didnt feel like walking that much.

Some dining areas offer a limited variety in the food selection while other areas and much larger and diverse.

As time went on it was soon time for boarding and I headed to the Business class boarding gate which allows direct boarding from the lounge.

When it was my turn to scan the boarding pass the boarding agent handed me a nice surprise, she said I had been upgraded to First Class and replaced with my business class boarding pass with a first class one!
Here it is , my seat 1K.

Despite being one of the older aircraft (A6-ECK / 15 Years Old at the time) it was still in pristine condition. It was cleaner than most new Air India aircraft!
This aircraft does not have the automatic window blinds as they do in other Emirates B777.

I was given a choice of pre-departure drinks by the friendly airhostess and I opted for an Apple Juice.

As we taxied to the runway the crew temporarily took away the snack basket and locked the doors for takeoff.

Emirates starry lit ceiling makes you forget that you're thousands of feet off the ground travelling across the vast ocean.

Once we reached cruising altitude the crew began their inflight service and handed out the menus for the flight.

Each flight has a specially made menu as per the route with multiple appetizers and main courses.I opted the for the caviar followed by the main course which was the Mixed Grill followed by dessert.

The sliding doors in first class really make your journey more private and comfortable.

The crew then arrived and set the dining cloth with all the tableware and handed me my drink of choice which was an iced coffee.

Emirates offers a generous portion of caviar served with finely chopped onion , chives, grated egg, sour cream and some lemon to add to the taste.

The main course arrived which comprised of chicken tikka, mutton kakori kabab with navratan pulao. I had also asked for another serving of warm garlic bread which was some of the best garlic bread I have ever had.

As the flight was during the month of Christmas the dessert had a christmas touch to it but its taste was average.

The lie flat bed of the seat really makes you feel at home and despite this being such a short flight I wish I could have had some more time to properly sleep on this flying cushion.

Even though this seat was much older than the new generation seats the inflight entertainment worked smoothly without any bugs. The inflight table was large and bulky not like the current tablet offerings but it had a wide range of settings and was very responsive.

The automatically opening minibar had two options of drinks : Sparkling and Mineral Water .This was a bit a disappointment as Emirates used to have a wider variety of drinks in their minibar like soft drinks.

The table is massive and has enough space for you to do work like using a laptop or writing some notes.

As we began our descent into Thiruvananthapuram the crew took away all the loose items and prepared the cabin for the approach.

Here is the photo of the seat with all the amenities taken out showing just the hard product.

Here's a look at my initially booked business class seat!

Nice review! Operational upgrades at the gate are always such a nice surprise! Beautiful full First class service despite being such a short flight.
