The trip to Osaka
In December 2024, my family and I went on vacation to Osaka on what was possibly the last family vacation abroad as I will be going to University next year.
The plan for the trip was to fly to HKG and transit there to KIX. As we are flying through HKG we will be going on Cathay Pacific for the 5th time this year.
At Soekarno Hatta Airport

We arrived at Soekarno Hatta Airport at around 8pm

The check in desks were under construction it appears and the noise from the construction was quite loud

My ticket to Hong Kong
At the gate

When we arrived at the gate, our plane hadn't arrived yet and instead an Asiana A350 reg HL8360 was preparing for its flight to Seoul

Soon after the Asiana plane left and our Cathay A330-300 reg B-LBJ arrived
Boarding

The Emirates 777 pushing back

The Cathay magazine at my seat
Pushback

Soon it was time for pushback

Cathay soon played its new Safety Video, with a more "blending our culture and airplane safety" kind of Safety Video style that you'd see in Garuda or Qantas
Taxi to Runway 25L

Soon the plane began taxiing to RWY 25L

Passing by a Saudia 777-300ER reg HZ-AK22 heading for Jeddah

Lining up at the runway
Sudden reverse back to the taxiway

As we turned to the runway, the plane unexpectedly u-turned back to the taxiway. Apparently, the pilot said that they have trouble with ATC

Take-Off

Finally we lined up for the runway

Take-Off

Climbing to altitude
The meal service (or lack thereoff)

On a flight to Hong Kong I expected CX to give out hot meals, but instead we got a box of small bites, which was strange.
Sunrise and decent

Soon sunrise began

Soon we began our descent to Hong Kong

Passing by a bridge or a highway

Passing by a sea of Cathay Pacific planes

Parking next to Cathay Pacific A350-900 reg which had arrived from Zurich
That snack, or "meal" is appalling. You'd expect more on an almost 5 hour flight, let alone on an Asian carrier, where hot Y meals are common, even on 2 hour flights.
I hope that the meal was so light due to the late departure time after midnight and not a sign of general cost cutting. I would assume there’s a full hot meal on flights that aren’t redeyes. Thanks for sharing!
Well, the flight to Osaka had a hot meal so yeah i think its just the late departure time
