Introduction
Welcome back to Winged Reviews! During the spring I had the chance to travel with Turkish Airlines on their A330-300 going from Istanbul to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. We had a 1 hour layover in Istanbul before traveling to Dallas. Hopefully we will have enough time to make our connection (more on that later).
Flight routing
- 1
- 2
- 3TK 759 - Economy - Dubai → Istanbul - Airbus A330-300
- 4TK 191 - Economy - Istanbul → Dallas - Boeing 787-9
AIRPORT
We had to get to the airport super early in the morning because our flight was at 9 in the morning. This flight was not from the main terminal so that was a bummer. On the way to the gate I was able to spot so many Emirates 777s and A380s (Some of my favorite planes)!

This was were we got the first look or our Turkish Airlines A330. Right next to it is an Air Algeria A330!

This terminal was almost as old as our plane having been build around 2007.

BOARDING
The jet bridges were very dirty but they let us get really close to the other planes.

This A330 was configured in the old cabin still and was very different from the one we flew on the way here. It featured the old cabin colors with the different bright colored head rests. Boarding was very slow and people were definitely taking their time to get on the plane.

SEAT
This seat was very old. The screen was outdated and had a wield glare coming from the windows. there was a USB port on the side and another unidentified one under it. this one also had a remote to control the screen from, it was also touch screen. This was a Middle seat in the middle row but after takeoff I was able to switch to a window seat because their was so many empty seat.

One interesting thing about this seat is it came with a foot rest which I liked a lot.

In the safety card their was a safety card and bag.

MEAL SERVICE
After I moved seats they started the dining service. When the FA came around they literally asked me " would you like some food". I of course said yes. The metal was some sort of cheese pastry dish. It was not to bad. One thing that elevated the experience was the metal silverware which we don't really see in economy. The water in the plastic cup was actually pretty good and it was cold.

After the meal service I went and looked around the plane. The A330 has a weird rear galley, it just kinda sticks into the tail.

One Interesting thing this Turkish A330 had was this medical stretcher on the right side of the cabin. They folded down the last 3 or 4 rows or seats and bloated it to the floor. I am not really sure what this is for so if you know feel free to leave a comment down below.
LAVATORY
The lavatory was just a normal economy restroom with just a few added touches. It had a cologne and some body lotion. It also had an empty flower holder. It was pretty clean and everything worked fine.

IN FLIGHT ENTERTAINMENT
This cabin was pretty old and so was the In flight entertainment. It was a little laggey but had a good selection of shows and movies.

LANDING
One thing that was really cool with this landing was that their was another Turkish A330 following us all the way down on the other parallel runway.

747!

When we were taxiing there was so many unique planes that I don't get to see everyday like this very high capacity Indigo 777.

We had a VERY tight connection for our flight to Dallas. It was only about 45 minutes. When we got off the plane their was someone waiting for everyone going on the Dallas flight it was about 4 other groups of people. They took us all the way down to the top level to a security station where we had to go through again before they let us go through the main terminal to our gate. When we got to the gate they had someone check all of our documents and swap our items to test them. We were one of the last people to board the plane and we were happy to find that there was still one open overhead bin for our stuff.

That's TK's Achilles heel right there, they have waaaay too many different types of cabins on different subfleets, which makes for a very inconsistent experience for hard product, especially with the A330s. For the soft product, that seems to always be consistently good.
Nice to have a footrest in Economy, very rare these days! And metal cutlery is also quite high end and rare for Economy these days, especially on a medium-haul flight like this.
Thanks for sharing!
