Departing LHR Terminal 3!
I arrived at London Heathrow about 90 minutes ahead of my flight to Prague, the route to Prague is one of the few European route that BA operate from Terminal 3 at London Heathrow alongside the likes of Luxembourg, Oslo Gardermoen, Gibraltar & various others. It does make for a nice change against the usual experience of Terminal 5! I was running tight for time, so I didn't do my usual practice of obtaining a paper boarding pass, my phone was fully charged and I passed through security in a breeze!

After I got airside, I found an email from British Airways apologising for being unable to cater the flight, I had pre-ordered breakfast from the High Life Café. I opted to get myself a breakfast tea & croissant from Pret a Manger, not somewhere I normally source snacks from, but I didn't have a lot of choice as most the options airside at LHR are going to be costly!

After enjoying my breakfast, I went to the Gate where boarding was starting up. Our flight was scheduled to depart at 07:05am and boarding started at 06:30am, the flight was due to be quite busy, but despite that hardly anyone boarded in Group 1 or Group 2- it must have been a flight that is light on status holders as the only people boarding in the first two groups took up the small section of Club Europe. Most the boarding was in Groups 3-5, including myself in Group 4!

My flight from London to Prague would be operated by Airbus A320ceo, G-EUYT. This A320 had been in service with British Airways since February 2014 since its delivery from Airbus. It originally came to the airline in 2014 with the older style A320 wing-fences for a year before getting retro-fitted with Sharklets in the Spring of 2015. Since 2019 the aircraft has been fitted to carry 180 passengers, increased from 162 passengers in February 2014. The aircraft was briefly stored at London Gatwick during the pandemic from November 4th to December 13th 2020.

Once I boarded the aircraft, I was approached by a BA flight attendant who enquired about my booking for the Speedbird Café- it would turn out that there was no issue with the catering and it was boarded onto the aircraft. I was quite happy by this development!

We pushed back off our stand at Terminal 3 and began to make our way to the South Runway, we would be departing off Runway 09R, right in front of the home of British Airways- Terminal 5! It wasn't a long taxi and when we got to the Runway we were given an intersection departure.

As we darted down Runway 09 and lifted off into the air for our 80 minute flight towards Prague, I got a great view of Terminal 3 & Terminal 2 as we rotated off the Runway, as well as the extensive BA Maintenance Hangar area. As we left the area surrounding LHR, we began a Southerly departure route as we climbed to our cruising altitude and getting away from Central London. Once we left UK Airspace we'd cross the English Channel into Belgium, pass over Germany most of our flight before making our arrival into the Czech Republic!

The first part of our flight was pretty nice as we had a lovely "Golden Hour" from that particular Winter morning departure, being on the left-side of the aircraft I could see some great views of Central London as we climbed out on this cloud-free but hazy morning!

The Euro Traveller service began shortly after take off and the cabin crew handed out the bottles of water and light snack in the form of an oatcake. As our flight had a length of time, the flight activated the buy on board via the BA Wi-Fi and main BA internet page. A later pass of the cabin doing service the "old fashioned way" was also done in good time.

My once thought cancelled pre-order arrived on que a few minutes after the initial service. On this occasion for £8.95p in a meal deal I opted for a nice bacon roll (one of my favourite starts) with a GRIND Coffee, a new item to the BA buy-on-board as well as a classic British confectionary favourite in the form of a Dairy Milk. It filled me up for a very long day ahead exploring the city of Prague!

Just over half way through I visited the lavatory in the rear of the plane, the facility was quite clean despite being half-way through the flight. I spoke to the cabin crew for a few minutes to give me a chance to stand and move my legs a bit as I don't like sitting for too long a period on flights over an hour. I returned to my seat and noticed as we were passing over Eastern Germany towards the Czech Republic that the ground was covered in snow, a sign of what was to come!

We approached Prague Airport on decent from the North of the Airport, passing it before making a Southerly turn to line up for the Airport. During descent we were told that phones had to switched off as the crew were preparing for a "low visibility" landing. I still planned to get the landing on my GoPro at the last moment, however despite the initial weather intel, the arrival was clear. I got a few last photos before I turned off my devices for landing before activating my GoPro seconds from touchdown and once we'd come off the Runway I was able to get some pictures of Prague Airport as we taxied to our gate.
Our arrival brought us in on Runway 24, we then taxied to Terminal 1 where British Airways operate out of Prague Airport.

Just before landing, one of the cabin crew on the flight approached me and handed me a card in an envelope, I opened it and found a card branded with British Airways and a message wishing me a Happy Birthday & a great trip to Prague, a lovely little touch (I took the image of my card in the Terminal). We parked on stand at Prague Airport Terminal 1, overlooking a pair of Wizzair Airbus A321s at Terminal 2.

And that concluded my flight with British Airways from London Heathrow to Prague! A very enjoyable start to being 28! I'm hoping to share the return flight soon as that came with a little surprise of its own! Hope you enjoyed the

Thanks for sharing, looks like a nice short hop. The catering issues are strange, I've never heard of that happening before and if they had actually been unable to cater then it would be annoying to be told that on such short notice. Reasonable price for what you did get, though. The card is such a nice touch and must have elevated the overall experience a bit.
The card was so unexpected and lovely! For some reason the catering email was wrong as my flight was catered and I got my pre-order without me even bringing it up, so I'll take that for a win on my side! 😀
Yep you got lucky! I was just thinking about if there had actually been no catering, it's not much notice if someone was expecting to eat on the plane
