Hi all,
Below are pictures from my continued exploration of Frankfurt airport the day before my flight to Toronto and my Toronto flight itself.
I arrived Frankfurt from Munich and I went to explore the B gates part of the airport.
Underground corridor that connects gates A and Z to Gates B

Up at B Gates

Passing passport control to go to the International part of pier B

Post passport control

Iran air bound to Tehran via Istanbul- I did not know that they have stops in Istanbul. It was very nice to see it here :)

Iran air gate and passengers

Thai A380 gate

Then I made my way to landside to go explore gates D and E area
The Main Check in Hall

Train to gates D and E

View from the train

D and E gates central check in hall

I went to the observation terrace right in front of the McDonald's to take pictures but it was a quiet time and not much was happening. You need to pay 5 euros to get into the terrace and need to pass through a small security check

Then I went downstairs and again I had to go past passport control to be able to go airside on gates D and E
Airside

Shopping areas are centered around the central area with departure gates all being wrapped in glass waiting rooms with a security check so there was no way to take pictures of the planes unless you are at your own gate. There was not much happening neither at that time except a flight to Jeddah the terminal was all empty.

Lounges were all closed and open at night time before the departure

Then I went back to our hotel

The morning after, we came to the airport around 9 am for our flight to Toronto around 2 pm, we came a bit early to check out the terrace again

Terminal D

It was for sure much more happening at the terrace this time

They were towing big planes from their remote stands to their gates in preparation for their flight

Back on the terminal train to take some pictures

At C gates where our flight was departing from- we had to go through the passport control

LH to Bogota gate

This LH was bound to Dubai and everyone was on board

Our Toronto gate

our aircraft

Boarding

Take off

First snack

Main meal- I got the chicken and it was one of the best airlines meals that I ever had. everything was very good and fresh.

Sleeping mode :)

Pre-arrival pizza like snack- also very yummy

So beautiful :)

Descend into freezing Toronto

North York Centre

Downtown in the foreground

We flew right above the Pearson airport to make a U turn and land from the west side, you can see the airport below the wings

Woodbine Casino and Horse Race Track

Pearson Airport

Making the U Turn

Landing was very hard and people got a bit scared but it went ok

Disembarking

Looking down to the departure gates area- walking upstairs towards passport control

A very long corridor, passport control is at the end of it

Looking down at US gates in the transborder section of the terminal

Finally going downstairs to passport control

Baggage hall

Hope you enjoyed this FR :)
Thanks for this FR.
The visitor terrace at FRA isn't the best as far as spotting opportunities, as the gates often block the view.
FRA is also more bearable in the afternoon when there's almost nobody.
Otherwise the flight seemed decent, although the appetizer of plain salad really is a shame.
I think it's the 1st time someone mentions free Wifi on LH.
Thanks KL651- Yes, you are very right, the terrace view is blocked by gates and planes land a bit too far from your sight so I had to zoom my camera a bit to get a better and closer picture of them. Yes, I was very surprised as the captain announced that the wifi can be used and I logged in with my iphone and there was no charge indicated and I was able to surf the web and there was no limit to it as I listened to music on youtube for quiet some time.
Thanks for this new Flight report.
The spotting at FRA is great with many different aircraft types and airlines.
AS for the terminal I don't like it and it looks dated and not very comfortable.
The flight looks good but I agree with the previous comment of KL 651 that a salad is not an appetizer for me. The chicken you choose looks indeed very tasty.
The seats seem comfortable but the pitch is limited,as it's the case in many economy cabins.
I trust you that FAs were good as they look professional on your pics.
Thanks Skyteamchc- Indeed the spotting in Fra is great as there are planes from all over the world and LH has also many heavies in service and 747-800, which I love the most. Yes, the seat pitch was not that awesome but as you mentioned the FAs were very nice and attentive and brought refreshments and water on random basis if anyone was thirsty, which was very nice.
Awesome planespotting. Too bad there wasn't much to see from the observation deck. The one time I went there were a lot of widebody arrivals to see. The cabin seems nice, though the pitch a bit tight, but that is standard these days. The catering looks good, which is contrary to LH's reputation for mediocre food in Y, so that's nice to see. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Kevin, yes the pitch in economy was a bit tight. Very cool that you saw many wide bodies landing :)
Nice minitour of FRA. Riding on LH's A346s is nice, but they're showing their age and use. I'm glad you found the catering so satisfying, it tends to be so-so.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, yes you are right. When you step inside the A340 of Lufthansa, you easily notice that they look quiet aged and need an interior overhaul for sure but a nice experience overall :)
