Hello! Welcome to my first report from BRU since 22/03:one month ago terrorist attacks hit Brussels Zaventem airport. French report :http://flight-report.com/fr/report-13985.html has been lost related to V3 migration! I'm back at Brussels Airport Zaventem on sunday 17/04:
On top of the usual security measures,I know that additional controls take place. Just after a short night we arrived earlier to the airport: First, all cars and their passengers are screened on the A201 access road by the army via a checkpoint Traffic is very busy:
Car parks are now available:it's not difficult to find a vacant parking space in Reservation zone.
Before we are allowed to the temporary check-in area, an additional police control, ID and boarding pass control take place. Only the actual passengers are admitted, the people who come to see them off are not allowed in this zone.
The actual check-in area is too small:It took us 1H30 to drop-off bags and obtain boarding pass!
There are no are queue lines dedicated to priority,no shopping opportunities in this temporary departures hall,
Everybody bypass the self-service check in kiosks
Once we’ve checked in, we have to ascend via stairs to reach the main terminal building. There is an elevator to reach the Connector, but it is strictly reserved for passengers with reduced mobility. Finally we arrived airside after having passed the usual access and security control but today Fast lane is not open.
The Connector is extremely sunny with large panoramics windows
Just behind:the check-in area is completely out of order:
Tintin's rocket from "Objectif Lune"is still in place:
Duty-free,some shops and bars were open.
Unfortunately we don't have enough time to go to the Loft lounge located across from gate A 42
Flight is on time and we head to the departure gate A40 where I can shot my plane
Terminal A is unusually quiet
Some shots of BRU's airside with a small number of planes
Boarding has just begun with Business class Proceeded to my seat at 1A:row with the most legroom:
Boarding in progress with our travelling companion
Flight is not full,we are alone in J
Neighbours:
Safety-card and inflight magazine
Daily newspapers
Push back was on time
take-off and overflight of Bruxelles suburb
Just after take-off the in-flight service began with the welcome drink:gin tonic
The meal was from economy class,Business meal was not available on this short flight!
View of the lavatory
Awesome views of Alps
I Italian lakes
Gulf of Genoa
Elba Island
FCO

We started the descent into NAP with a view on the volcano Vesuvio and Naples

Passed a MD82 while during taxi to the gate.

Conclusion
BRU experience with temporary check-in desks is acceptable in this context:congratulation to all the staff involved in the restart of the airport. It was a pleasant flight: SN:they have a good cabin comfort and good crew but catering is not the priority of this airline even in business class.
