Welcome to my FR of a route that has been reported on previously by fellow members of the community onboard KLM, however this route has never been covered with the other two airlines that run it : Easyjet & Germanwings (now called Eurowings). I'm going to address the latter with an FR on my return leg of a day trip I took to Hamburg. In total this trip costed me just €80 return bearing in mind I booked it only a few days prior to departure.
Here's my routing :
Eurowings AMS -> HAM - Friday Morning - Not covered
Eurowings HAM -> AMS - Friday Evening - This report
We start off at the Airport S-bahn station having just gotten off the train.

Next step was to check the FIDS to find out which direction I needed to go. I guess I'm headed for Terminal 2 then !

Since I had no bags and had already checked in online, I headed straight for the security area. Which was jam packed and took a fair amount of time to clear.
Eventually I made it airside and headed for gate area A

I forgot to take a picture of this but Hamburg has a fun layout where by certain gates can be organised to handle both Schengen & Non-Schengen routes with isolated Gate areas behind glass walls. Just a fun tidbit there ;)
After about a 1/2 hour wait, boarding began at gate A36

Sigh, guess it's another paxbus for me :(

But at least I get to do a bit of spotting enroute to the aircraft (Apologies for the image quality from here on in, my camera doesn't handle low light at all well)
EZY A319 with the newest livery

A very blurry BA A319 headed back to LHR

EZY and Germanwings

Eventually we make it and I embark via the rear door.

This gives me a chance to catch the tail number : D-AGWR, which was delivered to Germanwings on April 30th, 2010

Finally found seat 24A
I'm a tall guy (1 meter 95) so all budget airlines are a little bit of a squeeze for me
Boarding complete we begin taxiing and end up side by side with an Air Berlin A319
More mixed aircraft parked up
Then it was our turn.
Is that an AB A321 I see in the gloom ?
V1, Rotate !
After that I didn't take many shots while airborne because it was pitch black most of the way.
BoB menu was fairly decent in terms of selection but the prices were a bit excessive for me

An hour or so later, we began our descent
Are these some sort of Dutch crop circles ? Or Crop Blocks ?
Nope, just some factories with aerial illuminations ;-)
Final Approach
Touchdown
Winglet shot
After a 5-ish minute taxi, we arrive where we started this morning at the B gates of Schiphol with mostly fellow Star Alliance carriers for company.
LH A320
Edelweiss A320
Looks like Gate B17 is ours
LH Regional ERJ-170 is our next door neighbour
After a quick disembarkation, since this was Schengen, we exited via the Departure gate a bit like American airports. On the way out, I got one last look at our trusty vessel and her tail

Thanks for reading, I look forward to chatting with you guys in the comments ;-)
Thank you for sharing this FR with us!
Great tarmac shots of your plane at HAM.
Finally found seat 24A
- Are those crumbs on your seat? If so, very poor cleaning while the plane was on the ground. At 1.95 meters, I think all airlines would be a squeeze for you LCC or not, lol.
BOB looks a little expensive, I wouldn't pay €2.5 for a cup of tea.
As you said, 4U did everything you needed them to do based on your needs with a good on-time performance.
Thanks NGO85 !
Yeah, I always revel for an empty neighboring seat for a few cm's of extra legroom. ;)
And yes those were crumbs which I only just noticed from your comment lol
Hehe, I got a kick out of that. Cheers !
Thanks for this FR.
What a cheap price for a return flight booked on such short notice.
EX BoB prices remain reasonable compared to other LCCs.
Cheers buddy ! Fun fact I really only paid €50 for it thanks to some PayPal credit and Germanwings' ability to accept PayPal payments. So even less expensive ;-)
