Hello everybody,
Thank you for joining me on this recent Oman Air trip I took.
Check In at the Oman Air counter of Munich Airport was very quick. Nobody was queuing at the Business Class desk and the agent was very friendly and assigned me the last available window seat 15K :)
After quite a long passport and security check I spent some 25 minutes in the independent Atlantic Lounge which Oman Air uses at Munich.
It is located in Terminal 1 C area and located one floor below regular departure gates.
The lounge really is very basic, quite small and nothing to write a lot about.
I just had a coke and some nuts before heading to the gate.

Boarding had already started and there was a dedicated Business Class row which helped me to board our Airbus A330 quickly.
This Airbus featured the great new Oman Air Business Class cabin which offers great privacy with high walls separating passengers.
The feeling on board was very cozy - some music playing and all flight attendants very friendly.

Quickly I was offered a nicely scented hot towel and a pre departure drink. I opted for a glass of champagne which was nicely poured directly in front of me.

Looking out of the window I spotted an Easyjet Airbus plus some more Middle East carriers following our flight route this night.

Menus were distributed and a nice dinner plus continental breakfast would be served on this night flight.

As pushback started I was offered some Arabic coffee plus dates which is a great welcoming gesture.

We took off into the night and started our flight of 6 hours to Muscat.
Service was very friendly but unfortuantely also very slowly.
It took exactly one hour until I received my lime juice and some canapé appetizer:

Afterwards my table was very nicely set up and I selected the Arabic mezze as starter. A nice bowl of great warm breads was also served.

This was followed by the main course of veal and mushroom ragout.

As dessert I had the profiteroles and some tea.

The whole meal service took more than 2 hours which is too long for such a short night flight.
However the meal itself tasted great and was probably one of the best foods I ever had on an airplane.
I finished my movie and had some 2 hours sleep on the very comfortable flat bed.
1 hours 30 minutes before landing a very nice continental breakfast finished the inflight service.

Just some minutes before touchdown another final nice hot towel was handed to each customer.

We landed at Muscat airport and reached our parking position after a long taxiing just as sun started to rise.

A final view of my nice seat:

In Muscat no airbridges are available. So we were disembarking onto a dedicated Business Class bus and reached the terminal building quickly.
Thank you, FlyAlex for the FR!
Oman Air seems to be an undiscovered gem in the middle east. If only I could earn Alitalia MilleMiglia miles by flying on Oman Air, I definitely would like to fly with them long-haul.
Apex Suite configuration works really nicely, too it seems with the flexibility they offer travellers, whether they're travelling solo/duo. But does it not feel somewhat claustrophobic maybe?
Meal options look good! Though if it took a whole hour after takeoff for the canapés to reach your seat, and about 2 hours for the entire meal service to finish, that's half of your flight gone! What made it so slow?
How was the IFE in terms of user-friendliness and content options?
Thanks again for the FR, and happy flying!
Thanks for your feedback.
I really liked the seat for its privacy and to me it did not feel claustrophobic. There is ample space to both sides while seating and having 3 windows for your own also makes the seat feel airy and spacy.
Inflight entertainment was totally fine. It did offer many different films and was very easy to use with the remote control. What really impressed me was that all films I watched were also available in German. I would not have expected that from Oman Air.
Regarding the slow service I am not quite sure. Business Class was quite full and perhaps they were not really enough crew for such a full cabin. Also I was in very last row in second Business Class cabin and they served each passenger individually without any trolley but always starting from the very front. So I was always last to be served. In general I like the no trolley service concepts of airlines but in full cabins trolley service normally seems to be better and quicker option. Otherwise crew has to run in and out of galley all the time round.
Happy flying to you as well :)
Thanks for this FR.
Though 2 full services are great, on such a short flight it's almost too much.
It's always a good thing to offer a taste of the cuisine of the airline's country.
Was there an amenity kit ?
Actually the breakfast service was skipped by most passengers on this short flight but I opted to try it.
Officially there were no amenity kits offered on this flight. However I asked the flight attendant for some socks etc. and she kindly offered me a very nice and full amenity kit. She was very nice and also she pointed out that this was out of the normal service routine on this flight.
