This is the first leg of our return from Winnipeg to Washington via Toronto, and this report will focus on our flight from YWG to YYZ. I don't have as many pictures in this report, since this flight was essentially a carbon copy of our inbound flight just a couple days earlier.

On Wednesday, it was time to come back home. I had a really great time in Winnipeg, but it was time to go back home and enjoy being a second semester senior in high school! Anyway, we got to YWG at about 9:30 for our 11:20 departure back to YYZ, and checked in via the kiosks. Again, we didn’t check our bags right away, so we headed right to security. I was again impressed by the professionalism of the CATSA officers, and we were through security with no problems, leaving us plenty of time until boarding for WS 856. We went to our gate and just waited for our flight to depart. As more people came up to the gate, the gate agent made an announcement asking for volunteers to gate check some of their baggage, because the flight would be full. My dad and I went forward to check our suitcases, and the agent told us that we would not have to pick them up at YYZ, which was good because going through US customs would take up a lot of time. The aircraft was really late arriving to YWG, so boarding was delayed, and it seemed like the flight would be delayed. At around 11:10, all the passengers from the inbound flight had deplaned, and it was finally time for us to board.

For this flight, my dad and I were separated because of the full flight. I was stuck in the middle in 16E, while my dad was in 15D. There was a very large man in the window seat, and later on this younger woman sat down in the aisle, but I really don’t like being in the middle seat at all. Anyway, it was less than two hours to YYZ, and I had plenty to do during the flight. It was announced in the terminal that our plane had WestJet Connect this time, but I didn’t bother downloading the app for my iPhone, and just decided to stick with what I brought. After the safety demo and welcome announcements, we were in the air at 11:47 AM.

I passed the time on the flight by watching the TV episodes I had on my phone and reading, and before we knew it, we were already on our descent into YYZ. Despite leaving YWG almost half an hour late, our captain made up some good time in the air, and we touched down only one minute behind schedule, at 2:41. Every second was going to be crucial for us going through US customs preclearance, so big kudos to the crew for making up time in the air. We taxied up to that satellite terminal, got our bags, and proceeded into the YYZ terminal.

Conclusion

I had a good experience with WS on both of our flights with them. The crew was nice, the flights were smooth, and the pilots got us there safely. The food was par for the course on a low-cost airline, so I don't have a ton to complain about with that. YWG airport is very efficient for its size, and it had just enough amenities as well.
