Review of AeroMexico flight Mexico City → Cancún in Economy

Welcome to this flight report covering the MEX-CUN route.
The ticket was booked trough AM website so it was hassle-free. I compared airplane vs bus ticket prices, surprisingly both of them were at the same range and in no minute was booked. The only let down on this flight is the schedule because it means that you must wait at CUN until early morning. A few days before the flight an email was sent inviting me to upgrade.

approached to the self service check-in kiosks, which are located at the terminal entrance and a few others inside the terminal. In less than two minutes my BP was printed, of course in supermarket ticket quality. I traveled only with my backpack.

I then went straight to the security checkpoint and directed to an almost empty queue so this process was quickly done. The thing is that one officer wanted to re-check my backpack so you can imagine the mess he made with my clothes and toiletries, and while doing that my padlock got lost there, and when I came back to ask of course it was not there.

I like to take a seat in this area when in T2 and watch all people passing by.



The gate assigned for this flight was 66 and when I got there, not much people was around so I figured out that the flight would not be full. Sat down, charged my cellphone, and just waited to hear to boarding announcement.
All passengers were ready to start the boarding process! Including those in Clase Premier, I think because of the late departure.




From the terminal building to the aircraft, and I must say that I like very much this fact: when in the jet bridge you can actually see the aircraft and others around.



This is what I´m talking about, not feeling claustrophobic like in Terminal 1 jet bridges!
This is the aircraft that took me to CUN for the first time; I thought it would be painted with the old livery.



Next to my gate, EI-DRA was getting ready for its late night departure. And you know what? This aircraft took me back to MEX.



Well, welcome onboard!
I did not like the interior at first glance. Neither blankets nor pillows were placed in the seats.



I had the row to myself, which was a nice opportunity to relax and spread all over on this sector.



The seat pitch, I´m 175 cms so it was not a problem at all.



I noticed that the seats saw better days, again, this aircraft showed its age because it looked worn.



What can I say?



I´m going to put this right where it was found.



The seat pocket was stocked with the Aire magazine, the safety card of this Boeing 737-700 and le sac pour le mal de l´air.



Final ground view, the airport at this night time was very active.



Definitely a different aircraft for me, I even felt nostalgic.



When the aircraft leveled off the service began and I have to say that the two FA´s were so nice, they even chatted to the passengers and were full of smiles to everyone, people asked blankets and were provided. This particular crew surprised me for good. My turn came and I asked tequila and beer, along with peanuts. Also I knew that coconut water or agua de coco is offered on flights departing MEX so I took my chance. I asked for beer several times at the galley and was given without questioning. The FA´s even chatted with me. Really a pleasant flight.

This is the view I had all flight duration, the Purser was checking both Premier and Economy class passengers to make sure everyone enjoyed the flight. Moderate turbulence over the Gulf of Mexico in completely darkness. The cabin light was dimmed the whole service and passengers sleeping were not disturbed, I think that is a very nice touch of courtesy from the cabin crew.



This is how my seat looked after landing, was comfortable enough to rest. But I would not like to fly on international routes in this aircraft.



Finally, the aircraft parked waiting for its next mission and I was off to my adventure.
