This was the first time i was flying on a boeing 747
was super excited to fly with the largest aircraft air india has…..
jeddah to hyderabad took 5 hours , as i had heard a lot of things about air india flight delays was prepared and expecting a delay
surprisingly , the boarding started right on time.
the route: jeddah- hyderabad-mumbai.

first look of the .. grand , magestic, HUGE.. jumbo jet.

BUT it did not take too long for me to realise that it was a mistake choosing air india.
torn seats , not so friendly crew…..and so on

in-flight entertainment was not working for sometime, after sometime it did work but with issues
with the headset. one of the flight attendant tried to fix the headset issue and when he failed , he ran over to the business class
and got me a business class type headset..
(suddenly the crew became very friendly after i told them that i am going to post the flight pics and reviews online.)

weird choice of movie to watch on a plane :P

food was a relief,
biryani was good , i chose the veg version. they were serving chicken biryani too
dessert the kheer was good too.

sunrise over the Arabian sea

and the decent to hyderabad ….

Thanks for this FR.
Beautiful plane but in really bad shape on the inside...
Thanks for this FR!
The OB product looks awful ; with an exception of the food - it looks like a generous offering. However , the seats and IFE look appalling. It is a shame as I love the B747 and the Air India livery ...
Just out of interest , what was the departures process at JED and arrivals at HYD like ?
Boarding at Jeddah was like a breeze hazzle free . Actually it's a lill painful when we enter Saudi Arabia (immigration) while leaving ksa I never felt a hassle . The flight was on time and I always make it a point to eat at the albaiq in the airport . It costs the same as albaiq's outside . (It's a chain of restaurants like the KFC)
Hi ! Thanks for sharing this experience on this 747!
LOL. At least you got a good reaction from the crew. When I told the crew of a domestic flight that I would post the photos on flight-report.com, all I got was blank faces and some fearful, stuttering "what? flight-what? photos for what?..." and the service remained the same.
I read a report here about an EL AL 747 called The Pigsty!! That one really looked bad!
We need to consider the fact that 747 are getting out dated .And it's amazing that they r still surviving. And Indian airlines to be specific is not making too much profit that's the reason they care very less about maintenance.. cheers mate.
thanks for sharing this report and welcome aboard Flight report ! Flying the 747 is now a rare treat even when the cabin like on this one seems to be in very bad conditions; The meal looks ok but the crew are just doing the minimum. No wonder the airline has been having troubles for a long time.
