Hi all,
Here is a quick 737 comparison on Africa's busiest route between a legacy and a LCC.
I'm very stupid because I could have bought an extra luggage allowance on line at a discounted fare (zar 270) even though at the airport it was only zar 350.
Check in done in no time and hassle free SA security that allows pax to go airside with bottles of liquid over 100ml.
As the boarding gate was at ground level, we were bussed to a remote stand for a fairly loaded flight.
25 yo

Crew welcomed us with smile and the cabin is the typical BA cabin on its former B734. It was clean, comfortable but old school.
The new kid on the block: FlySafair

UM A320 grounded here for a while now

Complimentary hot lunch got served quickly as soon as we reached the cruising altitude. Crew were proactive and open to chat.
Comair network

Chicken, cereals bar and sweet, Appletizer only as I was driving after.

Descent and landing on time, exactly what was expected.

No wait at the reclaim belt which helped to pick up the rental car faster and drive down to Cape Agulhas which can be seen below on the bonus

a €40 room

Delicious fried calamari to go

Replica of twin figurehead of a French barque, Marie Elize

A 89 ft height lighthouse

The wreck of a small Japanese fishing vessel - The Meisho Maru

Before going back to Cape Town, a lunch stop at Ocean Basket restaurant

Platter for 1 for less than €10

Petrol station opposite to Elim watermill restaurant

Gordons Bay

Hey! Long time no see!
Thanks for this report. This is a route I'm planning for 2018. I see they have a wonderful weather in June in South Africa. What about July?
This was a report full of new words for me: Cape Agulhas, Gordon Bay, complimentary hot lunch, crew proactive and open to chat... all of them rather unknown in my country.
Fantastic views!
Certainly a nice trip that you made! Here's your first Like. ^^
I guess July should be colder even though T°C are mild during the day compared to a normal winter in northern hemisphere, what are your plans outhere?
"all of them rather unknown in my country." => LOOOOL
Cheers for the like and comment ;-)
Thanks for sharing this new FR East African! It's nice to see a report on Comair. There aren't many out there and, as a BA fan, I'm always curious about Comair's service.
"It was clean, comfortable but old school"
- Comfortable and old school often go together. New slimline ironing board seats are often rock hard.
Nice to have a hot lunch on a domestic flight! Did you mean to have 2 pics of the meal tray with the foil on, or was the second one meant to be with the foil off? Curious to see what it looks like underneath :-)
Thanks for sharing! I love reports in South Africa, makes me want to go back!
Thanks Kevin, indeed the picture has been fixed :)
Long time no see ! (an expression possibly deriving from Chinese 很久不見)
Nice report (although a picture appears to be duplicated), and even better bonus.
Thanks for sharing !
Nice song what does it mean exactly? ;-)
Sorry for the pic, you can now see the meal
It's debated, but the correct Chinese sentence 很久不見 (literally "very long not see"), which would be correctly translated into "[We] haven't seen [each other] for a long time" appears to have been transferred "character to word" into bad English "Long time no see" by Chinese immigrants in Singapore, a British colony at the time, and to have spread worldwide since.
Thanks for the explanation Marathon, I know how to write it but still not how to say it... ;-)
Thanks for sharing this report. Great photos from your flight - I love the photos of the 737-400 wing on landing!
You are welcome, thanks for commenting
Nice report, and a great bonus too!
Thanks Nick, much appreciated
