Hey again!

This summer I flew to Nepal with Oman Air! I flew from Manchester to Kathmandu, with about 1h15 in Muscat, the Sultanate of Oman. The flight itself was fine; it featured the previous generation seats. I can't say that the experience was anything special, acceptable service for eight and a half hours I guess. It is not my belief that Oman Air is really competitive with Emirates, Etihad Airways, Turkish Airlines and Qatar Airways (realistically).

My ticket wasn't particularly cheap. There was a cheaper option on Turkish Airlines via Istanbul, however the two boys I was travelling with didn't like the sound of transferring through an airport in Turkey for political reasons… I disagree entirely and I think we would have had a much better experience with TK.

Anyway, we arrived at Manchester Airport Train Station about three hours before our flight. I made my way to check in, and joined the back of a fairly long queue. At the desk, I was asked to present the credit card I payed for the flight with… well I didn't have the credit card with me. Wait, what? WY requested to see the credit card as a form of verification? After a few discussions with my mother, we finally got our bags loaded on: it did however cause considerable stress and took some of the enjoyment away.

After security, which took about thirty minutes (average at MAN, they are VERY thourough) we didn't really have long in Terminal 2. We boarded about fifteen minutes late because WY106 was late…

We passed through the beautiful business class cabin and on through the aft and the rear economy class sections. The cabin looked worn out and old, but the entertainment was good and seat pitch was normal. I was excited to see the cabin doors close: no one was sat next to me! The plane was full apart from that one seat, lucky me.

We soared into the late evening. The flight got pretty dull.

The cabin crew came around with a sort of aperitif, a masala snack. It tasted okay but the texture was very pleasant.

The cabin crew weren't really the most friendly, and their uniforms were ugly. I had some sort of lamb, which was completely average. Unable to sleep and bored with the entertainment options, the scenery outside proved very interesting… Bucharest, Romania:

I watched La La Land, which I'm pretty sure is available on most airlines. It was interesting, but I'll have to watch it again to 'get it'.

The sun rose over central Iran. I would love, love, love to visit that country.

We descended into Muscat with little else to note upon. The flight was quick, 6.5 hours.

Only a short report as usual! I can't say that I was impressed by Oman Air. It met average expectations and no aspect particularly delighted. The plane wasn't new and the cabin crew weren't too friendly. I don't recommend Oman aIr because I found the whole experience, including Muscat International, very dull and average. Instead, I would recommend you choose an interesting airline such as Turkish Airlines to fly to Kathmandu, as I so wish my friends had done…
