Chrismas vacation Vancouver to visit my family-in-law.
CDG-YVR 24/12/2017
Cart trip to CDG from Versailles. Very busy from the enter of the airport. Good thing we arrived early.
Check-in at the skypriority. Not a lot of people in front of us but very slow. For 10 min, we were missing the deadline. It took more than 25 min. Custom was quite fast as four booths were open for the skypriority lane, so it took 10-15 min. Security as well.
I went quickly to the lounge to get breakfast and newspapers. Was quite busy. Was welcomed by my last name which doesn't happen very often. Very good selection of newspapers and magazines. Food selection was a bit sad for salty stuffs. Croissant, pain au chocolat, bread, fruits salad. Not a lot of choice for sodas
Boarding was easy but line up to enter the plane . Our seats were at the far end of the plane. We took the duo option as it cost only 20 euros for my wife and free for me as platinum. The seat was quite good, quite a lot of space for the legs, lot of space between the seat and the plane (not super convenient for sleeping but good for putting stuffs on the ground).
Security instructions and in-flight magazine:
Some spotting before take-off
Entertainment center was good. New system. New movies OK, not a great list but few good movies. Lists of movies "toujours à l'affiche": same as flights for Guyane last November. Center was a bit slow to respond to my touches. Selection for music seems it doesn't change often. Don't really the new flight view mode.
Food:
Taboule: quick minty, but nice
Choice of food not great as I don't eat mushrooms. My wife read the menu and so that directly and went to the flight attendants to ask then to save the chicken meal. They agreed. We got served in advance which means we had to wait for the drinks. My chicken was cold when the flight attendant arrived
Chicken was quite good.
Camembert well average
Sablé au chocolat: sable was very Sandy. very chocolaty. Not my taste but my wife liked it ;)
Some overviews of the north of Canada:
Snack one hour before landing: same thing as usual. Not bad, not great
Views of Vancouver mainland before landing
Thanks for this FR.
Indeed a good experience with those "duo" seats and a catering that's pretty high end compared to what you get on UA, AC or LH.
Nice to see there were some special touches for Christmas!
Thanks.
Yes, it was a nice touch for Christmas. I found that AF really improved in customer service during the flights. The flight attendants are way better than before.
The DUO seats are very nice. The drawback is that you are at the far end of the plane so you have 250-300 people that leave the plane before you which can be a problem for passing the custom. But for 20 euros more each, it's worth it.
I forgot to mention that my wife and I don't eat mushrooms and one of the dishes of the meal contained mushroom. So my wife asked a flight attendant if she couldn't save us the other meal. She agreed, which was very nice.
Thanks you for your FR.
I have a question: I will take the 777 300 ER and the last 4 rows are duo seats too. We selected the 1st row just behind the 3 seats but it seems the 2d row (46) offers more legroom(I read your return flight too). I still can change. What would be your advice? Thanks
Thank you for your comment.
I would advice to take the second row. It's nicer, more room on the side and the tablet is not shifted. Not sure for the legrooms but you are more room on the side. Hope it helps.
