Hi!
Im back again to share with you my short getaway to Hanoi and other parts of Northern Vietnam!
My desire to go to Vietnam a year ago, as i watched the Amazing Race and Vietnam specifically in Hanoi and in Ninh Binh. I was blown away by the scenery of Ninh binh Province. After that my eagerness to be there drives me crazy, immediately searched an airline that flies from SIN to HAN. And the best date to go there is on my Birthday
As im always on budget when travelling, hence LCC would b my option. My first airline i checked was Jetstar Asia. unfortunately there is no direct link from Singapore to Hanoi, there would be a transit through SGN then transfer domestically via Jetstar Pacific, this would not be my option as it would take me at least 9 hours for me to get to Hanoi. Vietnam's LCC also has a direct link from Singapore and Hanoi but leave Singapore in the afternoon. too late for me. Of course Singapore airlines and Vietnam Airlines flies to Hanoi also, but even their cheapest fare is still quite expensive for me and besides they depart Singapore mid day. The best option for me is Scoot, until now im used to calling Tiger rather than Scoot. TR leaves Singapore in the morning so still have enough time to wander around Hanoi. i managed to score a fare of S$160 for 2 way with Scoot, just the fare no add ons since im backpacking.
3 days before my flight scoot sent an email that i can do online check-in id disregard the email as i want to ask the agent to give me a window seat, as for online it is a random seat selection, unless you pay for choosing your seat.
Changi Terminal 2's FIDS is very classic, i love that they still keeping this type of FIDS, as this alone is an attraction of the airport.

At Changi, Scoot uses FAST (fast and seemless Travel) check-in, a more self-service check-in. You checkin yourself, if you have check in luggage you tag yourself, then drop at drop off bag counter.
as thinking scoring a good window seat, i was asked to do a self check-in instead. just thankful that in not at the middle seat, im seated on an aisle seat for 3.5 hours.
self check-in counter, it was easy to use, just key in your booking code then scan your passport, thats it, it wil print a paper boarding pass. since, im dont have anything to checked-in i was not able to used the bags thingy.

the FAST bag drop off counters.

as the Lunar New Year is approaching, Changi is on CNY mood with Dogs as feature theme.

TR300 boards at Gate E23, and we are sharing with one of TR's flight bound for Surabaya. Surabaya flight departs 2o minutes earlier than us, before 650am, they allow us to go inside the gate and still with priotity for last passenger for Surabaya. After final security check we turned left and leads to the holding area downstairs. then i realized that we are going to be bussed to a remote parking area. i was excited as this is my first time to be bussed in Changi Airport. they are using Cobus 3000.

They announced that Flight to Hanoi is ready to accepty passenger for erderly, with infants and kids and who purchase board me first. after that no more announcement, since i was wondering if they would call for boarding by row, i just joined the queue and they let me in, i was on the second bus. Cobus 3000 is wide, with only few seats available and it really ment for standing only.

and we reached to our plane's remote parking it was already near to the new Changi's Terminal 4.
and here is our Plane…

and last look on our bus before i went up the stairs to board.

Seat is very typical LCC, this is the best space you can get if you dont want to spurge a little money.

something for you to entertain for the next 3.5 hours. Magazines, Safety card, BOB menu and, blow bag.

If you are the one who is always hungry like me, i would suggest to buy some snack in the airport and bring along with you as their BOB meals are too expensive (for me), $15 for a meal with Cola, drinks starts at $4 for a water.
After everyone is settled in, the door is closed and starts for pushed back, while taxing to runway Cabin crew demonstrate the safety demo, which i did not managed to finished and fell a sleep, and only wakes up about 30 mins prior to landing and preparing for for arrival. seat is not comfy, i just sleepy and tired as i dont have any sleep before this trip.
We landed on a Foggy Noi Ba International Airport and packed at the farthest gate on the terminal. it was a long walk to get into the Immigration.

Immigration is packed with passengers of 777's from Moscow, Paris and another 777 from Seoul just landed after us. it was long 30 minutes wait to clear the immigration good thing that there are a lot of open counter to accommodate the peak arrival in Hanoi.
i visit the carousel 3 where bag from TR to be collected.

Arrival area. with some fastfood, telecom, transfer desk, tour desk and all.

Curb side, where i waited for Bus going to Old quarter.

Stay tune for the inbound flight to Singapore.
Hi, thanks for sharing! It's still weird to me to see an A320 in Scoot colours. I'm used to Scoot only flying widebodies. I guess with the merger they are doing away with the Tiger branding altogether. It's nice that Scoot is an inexpensive option between SIN and HAN, but $15 for BOB seems really expensive. I take it that's $15 SGD? Still, that's pretty expensive condidering BOB on AirAsia, you can get a decent hot meal and drink for much less than that. Thanks for sharing!
Even now i still preferred calling them as tiger, they are still in the process of re painting tiger's A320, our plane still in Scoot/Tiger hybrid livery. Yes all amount that i've mentioned are in SGD. There are several LCC that serves SIN, that it why sometimes i can score a S$120 to Bali, S$110 to manila and even Kuala Lumpur for S$60. Scoot can offer cheap fare but their add-on, like food, seat selection and luggage, are expensive compared to other LCC airline. Cheers!
Thank you for sharing!

- I thought their normal seats shouldn't be too expensive? But true that unlike AirAsia they are indeed on the upper range.
Cobus 3000 is wide, with only few seats available and it really ment for standing only.
- Does it seem like nowadays SIN start using buses more? Had that experience on Lion as well.
If you are the one who is always hungry like me, i would suggest to buy some snack in the airport and bring along with you as their BOB meals are too expensive (for me)
- Or even eat before reaching the airport - foods in SIN aren't that cheap but Singapore itself can still be done on a budget with some effort :D
@Kevin: It's still weird to me to see an A320 in Scoot colours.
- At least their livery is still mixed between plain flyscoot.com or repainted to normal Scoot livery, but the normal Scoot livery seems a bit strange either.
Thank you!
About S$7 for standard seats, if i could do check-in manually, i could ask the agent to give me a window seat, for free =>
Not that i know of, maybe for some few airline's flight?! as for me this is my first time to experienced it.
Yes, like what i did, i bought a foot sub, i ate half before boarding, then the other half on board. got my water bottle too refilled at the boarding gate.
Thanks!
