Hello and welcome to this trip report,
My flight took off from Geneva Airport ( Switzerland ) and landed at Bastia ( Corsica, France ). But let me go through my experience at the airport first.
As you may know, Geneva Airport has two sectors, the international sector and the French sector. The French sector is very small as the only flights from Geneva to France are mostly going to Paris CDG. However, some go to Nice, Bordeaux and my destination, Bastia. The fact that little amounts of planes are in this sector means that the security checks aren’t long at all, in fact, the waiting time today was three minutes. There are two shops next to the gates with food, drinks and souvenirs. Cheers to Geneva Airport for creating this very useful sector which makes the travelers save time.
As a speedy boarding passenger, I was able to board quickly inside the four-year-old EasyJet Airbus A320. The Cabin crew was friendly, and the aircraft was reasonably clean compared to other low-cost carriers like Ryanair or Transavia. The aircraft took off on time from runway 05. I was surprised to see that our plane was not climbing above 12000 feet as we had to cross the Alps. Ten minutes after takeoff, the famous French mountain called the Mont-Blanc was offering one of the best views anyone can possibly get from the skies. The view was absolutely breathtaking.
Inflight snacks and drinks are of course not included. EasyJet recently added passenger entertainment and I was impatient to try out. I was very disappointed, by connecting to a WiFi onboard, you can access a page with movies. Very few movies are available and it is not possible to use Easyjet’s WiFi to access the internet which is unacceptable. EasyJet definitely has to improve on this point.
The aircraft landed nine minutes early. Bastia airport is very small. Very few airplanes land there every day as the main airport in Corsica is Ajaccio. I was surprised to see dogs walking around the airport. The airport has poor hygienic conditions and this is clearly a point to improve for Bastia Airport.
Overall, I had a good flight today and I enjoyed and would recommend flying EasyJet. In my opinion, EasyJet is the best low-cost carrier in Europe after Norwegian Air Shuttle. They are definitely trying to be on time and satisfy basic passenger needs. However, EasyJet clearly has to improve on in-flight entertainment. The first step would be to have WIFI onboard and a large selection of free movies, music, online newspapers…
I hope you have enjoyed my first trip report!
