Introduction

Welcome back to another one of my TR's! My previous part was on the new and awesome Boeing 747-8i! : https://flight-report.com/en/report/33710/Air-China-CA985-Beijing-PEK-San-Francisco-SFO

As I recall, once quickly going through passport control via Mobile Passport (Available to all US Passport Holders and select Canadian Passports for free): https://mobilepassport.us/

After everything was collected, we attempted to check-in after the mishap, if you read my prior reports, and my father spent about an hour on the phone trying to get the situation sorted out as we should of told United ahead of time. THE MISTAKE! Eventually we got our BPs and off we went, missing the 13:45 flight we could of easily collected upon due to our early arrival.

Eventually my father debated going into the city, but most of us were tired and concerned about going through TSA security, which would take ages if we did go out, so the verdict, no.

At SFO

This was the first time I was at SFO in my life, despite flying to all the major west coast airports beside this (SEA, PDX, LAX), so lots of exploring and catching up on the internet. (My VPN actually worked the entire trip this time including the extra day lol!)

Actual UA cardboard (More like paper to be honest)

The flight would be obviously operated by a E-175 which I've flown on quite a few times and would happily choose over "Satan's Chariot" which used to operate this route for ages, and supposedly a mainline flight also is available.

The gate on the monitors changed our original Gate to Gate 71B, which is a pretty nice spot:

I did some walking to remove some of my jetlag

The usual

Push back (sort of On Time compared to China standards) at 17:03

Thankfully I was able to snag a window seat on this flight with a nice woman switching with my and my mother.

SFO has the usual "long taxis, so yes lots of things to keep your eye out for:

Eventually we got the runway to ourselves at 17:28 with a pretty upset baby nearby

Then the service as usual: Sparkling water and pretzels

Eventually we were there, landing at BOI at 19:44 (note the time change)

Conclusion

UA is alright, and I didn't get dragged off (just joking), and there were a few empty seats anyway. The drink selection is nearly on par with DL and I guess we can't really judge the snacks. The E175 was nice this time and SFO is a bit weird anyway in terms of ATC management, since there are cross runways, and UA's presence is understandable here
