I've flown countless budget airlines in Europe and having flown two of the big players in the US back in my January trip- I felt that it would be fair to give SPIRIT AIRLINES a fair shot.

After an overnight stay in Dallas, I got a shuttle from my hotel back to the airport so I could grab a $59 one-way trip to New York LGA so I could fly back to Europe that evening.

I checked in on-line using the Spirit app on my phone allowing me to save on checking in.

Making my way through the TSA Security point, I had a bit of a wait, about 30 minutes.

Making my way air side I checked my bag against the standards set by Spirit- and it was within the dimensions!

After a ninety minute wait my yellow-clad Airbus A321 showed up! Ready to pick me & another 200 people up for New York!

I boarded the plane to find a nice modern cabin with the infamous Spirit seating- my legs are a little shorter than average so I had no issue fitting!

My word though- I was not prepared for the seat backs tiny tray table!

I mean what the hell is this!!!!

We pushed back and left DFW fairly on time, despite a 25 minute taxi around the airport to get to our departure runway.

Cruising along we were above the miserable clouds around Texas that day.

I decided to buy something off the Spirit menu and I went with a snack box (good souvenir opportunity) alongside a Ginger Ale!

A few images from the flight itself:

The flight went smoothly for the most part. Not IFE to report on as budget airlines don't offer any other than the in flight menu, which one can only read so many times!

We had a fairly quick run into La Gaurdia as it was mid afternoon and we missed the main rush around lunch time, just had to circle around New York's other airports to come in!

I got off the plane (skipped the flight deck as I was in a rush) and began my journey to JFK! I had a slightly bigger Airbus to catch!

Conclusion

Spirit Airlines- Good value, nothing much to rave about, but its great for travelling light from "A to B". I didn't have any issues with them regarding service- I knew I would be in for a basic economy service. The tray table was hilariously pathetic! Cabin was nice modern & clean, found them comfortable for a 2hr flight.

DFW- TSA was a little slow, but the time of day would coincide with the early morning rush, but once through it was easy to navigate around!

LGA- No issues with the airport, got straight on the bus and after getting to the nearest Metro station I made my way to JFK. Didn't have time to really experience it, better luck next time.
