This report covers the second leg of my Singapore trip.
Flight routing
- 1
- 2CX635 Hong Kong to Singapore
- 3
- 4CX542 - Hong Kong to Tokyo Haneda
THE WING BUSINESS CLASS LOUNGE

After getting myself thru the security check, given the short connecting time (1h35m security check and boarding time inclusive), the nearest lounge to my boarding gate was the only option. My flight was assigned to Gate 2, THE WING was the perfect one to hop because it is just located next to Gate 2.

Since the open of THE PIER (the most gorgeous CX lounge at HKG), I didn't visit THE WING at all. It was a good change to see any improvements since my last visit.

Once your stepped into the THE WING is the buffet area. Usually I just skip it or have a glance, and head directly to the noodle bar instead.
Here are some examples from the buffet area.

Here we come to the noodle bar, crowded as usual though.

In the noodle bar, you could order a bowl of Chinese noodle, dim sum or pan-fried Chinese bun. I love the dandan noodle with wonton added into it, and highly recommend you all to try this if there is a change to hit there!

A cup of Haagen-Dazs before heading to the gate

Here is the bar. If you want some alcohol before your flight, here is the right place.

Because THE WING is just next to my boarding gate, so I could actually seen my aircraft from the lounge. Yes! Brand new Airbus A350-1000, and it was my very first flight on it!

CX635 Hong kong to singapore
Time for boarding, couldn't wait to check it out

Aircraft of today, a brand new A350-1000 (Reg: B-LXB)

Seats look so comfy even in economy class

The seats come with a very big touch screen with pretty good response :)

Soon we took off from runway 07R at 3:35pm

A very, very nice view of the core parts of Hong Kong, namely Kowloon and Hong Kong Island

The safety card of A350-1000

Time for some in-flight food again. I was surprised again the meal was edible! (Yes, in the past CX food was usually inedible, especially in economy class). I see a big improvement on CX catering. I opted for the cheese bacon penne. If this is not your favor, chicken with rice was also available.

Always happy to finish the meal with a cup of Haagen-Dazs?

Desceding into Singapore, over Malaysian airspace

Landing from the south of Singapore today, after a big U-turn over the Batam Island of Indonesia. It's worth mentioning that air traffic control over Batam Island is coordinated by Singapore, although it is in fact Indonesian airspace

Approaching Singapore from the south. It was the 7th time I visit Singapore!

Touch down at 7:02pm

And here is the brand new Changi Airport Terminal 4. I could say Changi T4 is the most beautiful and amazing terminal I have visited before! I will cover more on Changi T4 in the next report from SIN to HKG.

But T4 isn't perfect at all, a shuttle bus ride is required to get back to T2, before taking MRT to city. The bus ride could take up to 8min as there is really a distance between T1/T2/T3 and T4.

Took MRT to city, and met my Singaporean friend for dinner

Thanks for sharing this FR.
"I love the dandan noodles with wonton"
It looks yummy
You are lucky travelling to Singapore, I'm jealous as a Laksa lover ;)
"Yes! Brand new Airbus A350-1000, and it was my very first flight on it!"
You finally got it !
Gorgeous picture of Hong Kong during take off
"I was surprised again the meal was edible! "
Was it that bad ?
By the way your main doesn't look so good.
"a shuttle bus ride is required to get back to T2, before taking MRT to city"
Very disappointing for the newest terminal
Nice bonus : hawker food centers are a great way to eat unexpensive delicious
food
See you soon for your SIN-HKG flight
Thank you Lagentsecret! I never get bored with Singapore street food! Rather than splurge restaurant, I always go to hawker centers than packed with locals, that's the real Singapore! I'll work on the next report asap!
Wow! The interior looked amazing! And like you said, that catering looked edible!
Great report, thanks for sharing!
Thank you for your comment! For flights longer than 3 hours, there is a really big improvement. But not for short flights such as my flight to Taiwan on Cathay Dragon last month, the food was still appalling though...
My last stint with CX was CGK-HKG-CGK routing, and the food was horrendous. Not to mention, most of the flight crew didn't seem welcoming at all. Probably it's a problem most airline faces with all these young flight attendants
Thanks for this FR.
Beautiful plane and very nice on the inside too.
The headrest looks so much better than what you get in Y normally.
Nice meal but it's weird to have both fruits and ice cream for dessert but no appetizer.
For inter Asia flights, most of the time, even in Business class, fruits are an appetizer
Hi Toyion, thanks for another beautiful report! From your cover photo, I was thinking you had visited the new The Deck lounge. I haven't seen many reports on the Deck. The Wing is nice, though I've only been to the F side.
The cabin looks great. The seats seem really nice and comfortable for Y. I was supposed to fly on the CX A350-1000 from IAD last month, but the business trip got cancelled. I was so looking forward to flying on it. Just like some last minute changes forced me to rebook from an IB A350 to a boring AA A330 in September, it seems I have no luck with catching A350s! I can't believe I still haven't been on one. Fingers crossed my luck will change soon!
That winglet is beautiful, especially with the new logo. A brand new CX A350-1000 between HKG and Changi, two of the best airports in the world, it doesn't get much better than that!
Thanks for sharing!
Hi Kevin, thank you for your comment!
In fact I made a visit to the new The Deck last month before my flight to Taiwan. I'll try to share that too! To be honest, although The Deck was newly renovated but it's really cramped. Even looking for an empty table would be an difficult job. I'll cover it later :)
Thanks for sharing this report on an exciting new aircraft, Toyion.
"I love the dandan noodles with wonton added into it, and highly recommend you all to try this if there is a change to hit there!"
-This is genius! I will do this for sure next time.
The Old Airport Road Food Centre is one of my favorite in SIN. Great selection.
Thank you for sharing and happy flying.
If catering on Cathay was inedible for you previously, you must have had tougher times with other airlines haha! Nice report to read, thanks for sharing. I definitely love to read about Cathay.
