Hi and welcome to this Flight report!
From 2014 on I had the pleasure of visiting London once every year. I was somehow so busy last year that I nearly forgot about that. So it was already late in September when I decided to keep this -nearly- tradition ;)
After having quite a good experience of LH's Business class in 2017 I decided too book it again this time - the prices were quite reasonable.
Arrival at the airport
As with every of my flights departing from Frankfurt airport, the journey began at the main station of Karlsruhe which is only about one hour away from Frankfurt airport if you take the ICE train.
After leaving the train (on time) you take two escalators up, walk a rather long corridor…
…then take two escalators down…
…walk again and finally take one escalator up again to reach Terminal 1…long footways are quite usual here.
I quickly proceeded to the security checks, where I realized there was absolutely no need of using the priority lane…time to look over to the apron.
Lufthansa Business Lounge - Lunchtime!
There was more than enough time left to visit the Lufthansa Business Lounge which was located near Gate B44.
I had a vegetable soup which was quite good, but unfortunately a bit cold…
…as well as a cheese pretzel with a well-known soft drink.
Before leaving the Lounge I just realized that the departure gate had changed, but the new gate was not that far away.
Giving the Neo a try
Boarding started on time, the aircraft was D-AINF, which was one of the new Airbus A320 Neo. I was quite curios how noisy those engines were as I only knew the classic A320 up to now.
The crew was really nice throughout the flight.
…even this dustbin wishes a great journey! (Gute Reise!)
The interior was more or less the usual LH A320 thing, legroom was okay for this flight.
The tables blocking the middle seat have vanished! Has this happened to all the LH short haul fleet or just the Neo's?
Pre-departue drinks were not offered.
To my surprise the boarding was completed after just a couple of minutes, and many seats remained empty in both classes.
However we left the gate with some few minutes delay.
You barely notice the new engines starting up…nice!
Some beautiful MD-11 freighter aircrafts parked at the cargo area
And while taking off from Frankfurt I must say the engines were still pretty quiet - Très bien!
Second lunch…this time on board
Time for my second lunch! This time it looks really wholesome again:
-Tuna salad including green beans, tomatoes, olives, field salad and some egg with vinegar dressing
-orange yoghurt
-ciabatta bread with butter
The salad was a great composition and of good quality. The dessert on LH flights were always tasty - this one was no exception.
Some tasty pralines were also offered.
Beer is a popular choice on Lufthansa flights ;)

Arrival at London
Soon after finishing lunch the descent to London began. Some minutes later the First Officer announced that we should luckily arrive in Heathrow on time or even earlier and imformed us about the weather.
We hit the runway a few minutes before planned time :)
After grabbing my bag I quickly went over to the underground station - my hotel was located in central London, which took quite some time with the Picadilly Line.
Now thanks for stopping by and reading this report, hope you liked it!
