Hello and welcome to this Flight-Report!
In February I decided to make a trip for two to Canada for one Week which consisted of visiting the cities of Toronto (Where I have been last year for only one night during a trip across Northeast America) and Vancouver (Never been there before).
So this trip consisted of three flights which I booked at lufthansa.com:
- AC873 (booked as Codeshare LH6676) Frankfurt (FRA) - Toronto (YYZ) B773 in Premium Eco
- AC115 Toronto (YYZ) - Vancouver (YVZ) A321 in Eco (FR coming soon!)
- LH493 Vancouver (YVR) - Frankfurt (FRA) B744 in Premium Eco (FR coming soon!)
One problem occured during booking: I was not able to make seat reservations for the flights being operated by Air Canada. After booking I called Lufthansa for receiving an Air Canada booking code and tried it over the AC homepage. But I still had no success with it.
Finally, after contacting Air Canada via Facebook(!), I got seat reservations for AC115. But because of the first flight being sold as LH6676, seat reservations for this flight were impossible until Check-In (Well, that's what they told me!).
Could be easier in modern times, isn't it? ;)
At Frankfurt Airport
We arrived around two hours before boarding time at Frankfurt Airport. Check-In was done online so we just had to drop our baggage before going through security checks.
First a photo of my Boarding Pass:
Security was very efficient today - maybe thanks to the rather early departure of our flight.
Our Triple Seven already had settled down at gate B42. Unfortunately, the low sun impeded good photos of her and the others at the airfield.
Boarding
Boarding started absolutely on time, and because of Premium Eco we could get on the Boeing after Business Class passengers (that was not the case with Lufthansa one week later, so let's call it different concepts ;) )
Each seat in Premium Eco was equipped with a bottle of still mineral water, blanket, pillow, headphones and the (usual in this class) amenity kit.
Legroom was great - that what you can expect in Premium Eco. The seats itself also made a positive impression, although I preferred those on Lufthansas 744 which I took one week later (Report will follow soon!)
Soon it was announced that departure will be a few minutes delayed because of waiting for connection passengers. In the meantime orange juice was offered ;)
The safety demonstration was made in the modern way…
In the air…
Soon after taking off from Frankfurt the menu cards were handed out…let's see what they got…
Well, I decided for the Truffle pasta which was a good decision, although the other main course also looked pretty good. The rest was also very good. I had chosen red wine to drink (forgot what it exactly was…)
Some time after finishing lunch I came around at the rest room. The usual thing, well maintained and clean.
While riding over the ocean pretzels and drinks were offered (ginger ale for me)
Arriving over Canada…at least that's what the IFE system says…
Before leaving our cruising altitude of 34000 feet another snack (Pastry containing chicken and bell peppers) and a drink (black tea for me) was offered. It was quite good.
Arrival at Toronto
The Landing was pretty soft and uneventful. After leaving the plane we had a great view to the airfield.
Border control worked pretty effective (but those restrooms over there were really filthy!).
Having a short rest before taking the UP Express to downtown Toronto.
You have also a nice view from the train while leaving the Airport
Toronto showed up soon…
After only about half an hour we arrived at Union Station, where I wuld like to end this first report of my trip to Canada. The second will follow soon :)
Thanks for this FR.
Well the meal is definitely well presented and different than the usual Y+ meals that are close to regular Y meals.
How was the amenity kit?
The seat looks comfy, I'm surprised you preferred the LH ones.
Thank You for your comment :)
I agree with you, the presentation of the meal was really great, and it was tasty! The pastry before the approach was rather regular Y though (but not bad at all).
The amenity kit consisted of a sleep mask, earplugs, a pair of socks, toothbrush and -paste - all items of good quality.
Both the AC and LH seats in Eco+ were pretty comfy, the LH ones just had more stowage room and a better IFE.
Thank you for the nice report! The catering looks really delicious, was there real truffle oil or actual truffles used ( here seems to be some in the picture)?
Thanks for your comment :)
Well, the small bottle seen on the photo was the oil/vinegar dressing for the salad.
The truffle was included in the filling of the pasta (ravioli), so I i think both is possible.
Great report. It looks like you had a good flight with Air Canada in Y+. Food looks quite good, and glad you had a nice flight.
Thank you for sharing!
