Hello everyone,

I am happy to share with you all, this Korean Air flight review I made March when I traveled from ICN to Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam via SGN for my honeymoon :)

Early departure from ICN, at around 09 am. We arrived at the airport at 7 am, as we had to pick some goods from the duty-free zone ( airside) which we ordered online 2 days earlier.

Quite impressive this dutty free online order and airport pick up service available in Korea. Have not seen anything like this in other countries.

Most of the people at the online duty free pick up counters were Chinese. ( buying many cosmetics in Korea and reselling them in China)

It was nice to catch a more modern A330, with the latest IFE available on the KAL fleet!

Option B : Chicken

For dessert, there was ice-cream.

In other words, food was tasty and the service excellent!   This is a real 5 star airline…  ( LH 5*????come on ) :)

48 hours I called KAL to request the anniversary/birthday cake!  I was so excited when they brought this cake to us! Amazing experience in Economy!!   Do not know of any other airline that have a service like this one.   (  Update- Heard that this summer, KAL removed this option, but not sure if true 100%; at least on their website not listed anymore)

After meal service was done, most of the passengers went into "sleep mode". They voluntary put the shades down.

Thanks for sharing. Looks like you've had a pretty good flight, but those ratings for Saigon are pretty low, why is that?

The ratings for SGN Airport are lows because of the difficulties to connect from an international flight to a domestic one. Awful experience in the domestic terminal ( 30 mins waiting just to clear security in a room with no workable aircon and more than 400 persons! )

What an experience in Y! You're spot on - this alone should dismiss any credibility Skytrax ratings claim to hold. Unfortunately I'm not surprised to see something like the birthday cake option be discontinued, such is the way the industry is going. Agreed SGN is a mess for connections.

Sorry to hear of your experience in Phu Quoc. A slice of paradise completely torn to shreds by out-of-control development and an unsustainable push tourism. Even when I visited two years ago I felt 10 years too late. Much nicer island options nearby in Thailand and Malaysia.

Exactly! You nailed it! And regarding Vietnam, I felt the same! Like I arrived too late on that island. Everything is under construction and nature is being destroyed... - Thanks for reading :)
