until next time argentina!

A good argentinian friend of mine from Paris was getting married and she invited me to her wedding in december 2013 in … Mendoza in Argentina!
The cabin was featuring 316 seats at the time-before the retrofit of Best and Beyound so i had the old seats for this trip.

Flying blue Miles earned with this flight: 2021
(before the program changed to a revenue-based model)

I also paid for a extra legroom and chose for 35L

My flight was in the afternoon so in the morning I went exploring the beautiful city a last time and took the tube to get back to the hotel in San Telmo for a last time.

at buenos aires ministero pistarini - ezeiza airport

Ministero Pistarini - Ezeiza airport is located 22km away from the centre and unfortunately there are only two ways to reach it: collectivo (bus) and taxi.
I took the second option which was faster (30 min).

The taxi dropped me at the departure area and from there i walked to the smaller of the terminal of Ezeiza, the terminal C. I picked up my boarding pass from the AF staff at the counter and dropped my bag.

I passed passport control and security very very quickly (surprisingly quickly…?) and arrived at the duty free area of ther terminal..

Sorry for the bad quality of my phone camera below..

..Where I had a nice view on our B777-200ER … Sorry not nice view.. blame the bad quality of my phone camera back then - I knew I should've tried to zoom in!

Air France relies extensively on its 777 for its long haul routes. Air France has almost evenly grouped its B777-200 into nowadays two categories: Best and Beyound Business with 280 seats (40 Business, 24 Premium Eco and 216 Economy) Best and Beyound Loisirs with 312 seats (28 Business, 24 Premium Eco and 260 Economy). The type was ordered to replace B747s and A340s.

The business class and premium economy boarded first and I went to board through the economy jetway. The staff at the gate was really professional.

I was welcome by the crew in the economy cabin
The seat was a bit old and felt quite tough, and it has the particularity to have the IFE screen under the left arm rest. The tray table was too. I arranged my little space like it was my own lounge as there was litteraly a lot of space next to the emergency exit; and used the door as a foot rest :p
There was a blanket, the famous red pillow, a pair of headseat and sleeping mask - so not too bad for economy.

The cabin is configured in a 3-4-3 format, standard for the economy class for the majority of airlines on their B777s.

After push back we had an announce by the captain advising us to put warmer clothes on… It was 35 degrees C leaving Buenos Aires and snowing at Paris CDG.

The IFE displayed the old Safety Video.

We taxied for s short time and took off from runway 11.

After take off and the seat belt switched off passed 10,000 feet, the crew started to serve aperitif - champagne.

The food service was a 3 course meal menu, with an option of two wines to choose amongst the reds and one amongst the whine wines.
I am sorry I can' remember what the main meal was but clearly there was a generous piece of bread, a greek salad as a starter.

The Air France magasine is comprehensive with 300ish pages, a first section about world's statistics, travels, Air France fleet presentation and a presentation of films.

As you can see one of the strenghts of the AF-KLM group is the complementarity in terms of destinations … most of the cities are connected by both to Paris and Amsterdam but sometimes just one of the two carriers goes to a different area where the demand is different.

This was also one of the first times where the domestic network"France Metropilitaine" and "France depuis la province" was rebranded under Hop!

After watching a movie, i reclined my seat and despite my slightly better seat than my other co-travellers in economy, and I managed to sleep better than on the way out… Is it because there was nobody next to me?

The night was pitch black by then.

We were served breakfast two hours before landing which included orange juice, coffee and i a pastry.

The descent started whilst over Britanny; with a nice and well detailed announce by the captain.

We landed on runway 8R.

We landed on runway 26L…

I still remember how fascinated I was by landing under the snow…

As well as being fascinated by the fact I left Buenos Aires with a 40degrees heatwave and landing hours later in freezing and snowy cold Paris!!

I arrived in Charles De Gaulle Terminal 2 E in the vast Hall K but not on the red carpet bit as the arrival is downstairs. I passed passport control at the common terminal 2 E area and after picked up my bag.

One of the benefit of french airports is that some of them are directly connnected to the High speed train TGV network and I took the TGV to go back to end my trip.

As you can see from my TGV ticket this was the time when they tried to push for e-tickets!!

photo 20210919_202600

To reach the TGV station you can directly walk from 2E as it is located between 2E and 2C.

In conclusion it was a very good first long haul flight for me.

And for the stamp collection!
