Welcome to the 3rd report from my latest series covering a holiday trip to Greece. Here is the full flight plan:
23.08.2019 - WAW-ZRH - LO 411, E-195 23.08.2019 - ZRH-ATH - A3 851, A-320 31.08.2019 - ATH-VIE - OS 804, A-320 31.08.2019 - VIE-WAW - OS 631, DH4
Before the main report, I would like to share with you some photos from my stay in Athens, Tinos and Mykonos Island.
We spent just a couple of hours in Athens before heading to the islands, it was nice to be there again after 2 years break.
The next day we took a ferry to Tinos Island that stopped for a while in the beautiful island of Syros
Tinos is known for its Holy Virgin sanctuary, strong winds, beautiful landscapes and calm. Unlike Mykonos, it's a perfect day to escape from crowds.
We made a one day trip to Mykonos that is no doubt a very beautiful place but it is so crowded, noisy, busy and expensive, that I was happy to be back to Tinos in the evening.
After a great week in Cyclades, it was time to go back to Athens and fly back home. Our flight was supposed to depart at 06:40 a.m. so we spent the night close to the airport.
As always in case of early morning flights I was not in mood to take pictures, anyway there was nothing really intersting in ATH.
Check-in
Current departures
Our gate
Sun was slowly rising over the airport
Bus boarding! I didn't expect that from Austrian, even if it's quite common in Vienna, in ATH I always saw their planes connected to a jetbridge. Anyway, a good oportunity to take some photos, as always.
First impressions from the cabin: it looks neat, very LH group style: slim Recaro seats and quite good legroom
Whole cabin look later in the flight
View from my seat as we slowly begin to taxi for departure
Western Attica (with Athens in the background) and Euboea island. Flying over Greece is always a pleasure for the eyes
After not more than 20 minutes we pass the Chalkidiki Peninsula
Austrian's service in Y this morning consists of a piece of cake and choice of cold and hot beverages
Even though it is not the best one could expect, the crew that is in general very helpful and attentive, offers a second piece of cake and also another turn of beverages. Time for the seat pocket. Safety card
Fleet and destinations map
As soon as we reach Serbia, we start to fly along Danube river that we will cross several times and will stay with us for the rest of the flight
Passing Danube again while approaching Vienna. VIE can be seen on the left
After a deep turn left we are on the short finals
Danube again, this time very close
and landing
It's a beutiful day in Vienna today, with full sunshine and teperature above 30 degrees Celsius
This flight has remote stands on both ends
The cabin once again
Vienna airport arrivals hall as we make our way to the train to spend a day long stopover in the city
Thanks fo reading, to be continued soon.

Conclusion
My genaral conlcusion is that OS keeps the LH style standard very well, you know you can always expect from them a small snack, decent cabin and very polite crew and that's how it was this time.

Nice report as always Loukas! A pretty standard flight with OS, which is pretty decent and above average by EU standards. The cabin looks nice with the grey and red, and looks modern and clean--nicer than LH, despite the same seats.
Lovely photos of the Greek Isles. Too bad you could only spend one day in Mykonos, but you're right that it's way too crowded at the end of August. I see you went to Elias Beach, which is my Favourite. I also like Super Paradise Beach and Jackie O Beach Club there.
Hi Kevin, Many thanks for your comment! In the end of August I was happy it was just one day, it was so tiring! I agree that Mykonos has great beaches, but believe me, there are many Greek islands that are much less popular but the same or even more beautiful.
Unfortunately, the only islands I've been to are Santorini and Mykonos, but next time I go to Greece I want to explore several new islands. Which would you recommend?
I recommend Serifos, so you can explore the real Cyclades without mass tourism. Milos is also very nice, quite popular but still less than Santorini or Mykonos. I love Corfu (Kerkira) - it is big and quite popular in mid summer but it has a lot of calm places and beautiful nature. To be honest, I still have so many island to visit myself that I'm pretty sure I won't make it in a lifetime :)
