This is my first report for Flight-Report.com and is possibly a little light on aviation detail, as it was mainly the lounge experience that I photographed.
After a week in the Black Forest, I opted to fly back from Basel to Heathrow.
I opted to fly back using the BA service from Basel Airport (full name: EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg) and bagged a bargain £69 fare to Heathrow. The option to upgrade to Club Europe was offered during the booking process, for a price of £567 which I naturally declined.
After booking my Y flight, that upgrade was mysteriously offered to me for about £60, so I snapped it up.
We got to the airport a tad early and waited for BA check-in to open.
And waited.
And waited.
And waited.
And waited.
Then it opened and two distinct queues formed - Club Europe and Euro Traveller.
BA use the Club Europe desk as their General Enquiries desk so the agent was stuck helping a passenger. Eventually the Y check in agent noticed and called us forward. That was a bit annoying but in the big scheme of things not a worry.
There was a massive queue for security but this was easily bypassed as they had Fastrack access for CE pax.
We headed up to the Skylounge. I'd seen pics of the lounge on Priority Pass website and it looked great. I was not disappointed.

Hot food consisted of tomato soup, quiches and mini pizzas while cold snacks were crisps, olives, cheeses etc.
Our flight was delayed by about 15 minutes, but I wasn't really worried.
Boarding was quick and the staff were great.
Take off was smooth and soon enough were we soaring over the Black Forest, and then through the clouds where the sun was shining.
Captain announced that our timetable 95 minute flight would be around 65 minutes, yet they still served a full meal.
Which looked like this:

There was a further drinks run, where I had my second bottle of Champagne.
Tea and coffee service was not provided due to turbulence, however we were offered other drinks. So that was another bottle :).
Then, over Kent, tea and coffee was offered, which was a nice touch as really, they needn't have bothered.

We arrived at Heathrow T5C, which involves a transit train to the main building and quite a long walk.
So three mini bottles of Champagne in a 65 minute flight. That's a record for me. :) And yet another great CE flight from BA, at a bargain price.

Conclusion

A great flight and confirms that Club Europe is a good step up from Euro Traveller, however not at full fare.

  • Dear Sealink, thank you for your first report ;)

I added the lounge to our database, feel free to edit your FR and change the grade (default value 5).

  • Thank you for this report and welcome here :)

I like that BA tries to keep a full meal in J even for shorter flights like this one. I don't think I would have paid the upgrade though...did you receive mileage credit for Club Europe too ?

  • A warm welcome here ! Thanks a lot for this first Flight-Report.

  • Thanks for your 1st FR and welcome on board :)

  • No kidding, 567 GBP for an upgrade on a 1h35 flight ?! That is what I call a mistake fare, the other way round. Nice pictures of the lounge, but next time, try to use a landscape format whenever possible; that fits better in the webpage.

Welcome among the contributors to Flight Report, and congratulations for your self-upgrade to the Elite English language writer status ! ;)

  • A brand-new-London-based-member publishing his first FR from one of my favourite airport... -> Congrats ! :D

  • Thanks for sharing your first FR and welcome

Nice lounge but I'm not impressed by the food and the beverages

Usual BA meal for this schedule and flight time

  • Thanks for the great report and welcome to Flight Report in english !

  • Thank you for sharing and cheers !

    Welcome among the contributors.

  • Thank you for this report.

BA's upgrade offers upon check in really are a good opportunity to sample their C class which looks inviting on a 90 minute-flight.

  • Thank you for this FR.

I'm not living so far away from the Basel airport but unfortunately never got the opportunity to visit this nice lounge.

    Usual catering for BA :-)

Almost forgot, welcome aboard FR :-)

  • What an achievement, you managed to take pictures and write a FR after to much champagne ;) Welcome to FR !

  • Thanks for sharing this first report and Welcome aboard!

An FR with lots of champagne, just like I like them :-)

Thanks for the detailed coverage of the EuroAirport lounge. It is quite impressive considering the airport is not that big.

The upgrade offer is definitely worth taking at that price especially if you receive the additional Tier Points.

  • Welcome aboard and thank you for sharing your experience.

3 small bottles of Champagne for a short flight, it's going to be hard to beat.

Nice lounge, and the access to the terrace is a plus.
