CDG and Air France lounge 2E- K
After a short night at the Marriott CDG, we take the shuttle bus to the airport, breeze through security and head straight to the lounge for a well deserved breakfast :)
We were welcome with a smile and offered a tour of the lounge but I already know it, this is for the time being the only lounge that is not refurbished at 2E.
We went upstairs as it is usually less crowded. And it was the case:

As it is pretty early there are not that many people yet in the lounge and it is very clean. Let's have a look at the hot food:

I am impressed by the hot water dish :)

Breads:

And pastries:

Juices and hot drinks:

Cold cuts and fruits:

Soft drinks:

Hard drinks:

Breakfast time:

It was really nice, the only thing is that a hot sweet item like pancakes or waffles is missing.
The FIDS:

Our gate is at the far left of the terminal:

Shortly before the flight we head to the gate

777 AF to JFK

Here it is:

That's our plane, almost impossible to take a correct picture:

I like this place, ideal to rest or to spot:

Our 767-300ER:

AF and HOP!

Our boarding screen:

the flight
Boarding started on time, as usual for flights to the US there is a random security check just after the boarding gate. I have often noticed that the first passengers are also the first to be controlled. We decided to let a few people go before us and it worked since they were all selected for that random control.
In the jetty:

The plane next to ours:

Our Boeing:

We were greated with a big smile and in French. This is the Delta One cabin:

I always preferred the cabin of the A330 (not speaking about the suites in the 350) that looked far better, but to sleep, the seats on the 767 are better as the seats on the 330 are a bit narrower.

The amenities:

The headset isn't really great and not that noise cancelling:

Welcome drink:

Cheers:

Donna, our friendly purser, hands out the menus. She speaks a bit french and that will be pretty handy for my father whose english isn't that great.

Drinks:

The design of the menu is pretty nice, the dishes are the traditionnal choice: beef / chicken / fish / vegetarian choices but they are elaborate and look all promising.
For the wine, I only drink sweet wine, I can't comment the sleection.
As I take this picture of the safety card, a cabin crew members asks me in a very suspicious way why I am taking a picture of "their safety card". As we are aboard an US airline, this can be a hot topic. I take my phone to show her my Flight-Report account and this will be more than enough to make her smile and understand the game :)

The free WIFI for messenging is great:

Delta magazine:

The slides are armed and we left on time.

Lots of AF planes everywhere:

A340 long gone now:

787-9:

We will line up behind this OS A320:

But this Dash8 (also long gone) will take off before us:

I had never seen three aircrafts on the active runway:

Take off:

Very low ceiling, almost impossible to see Le Bourget:

The IFE screen is really small:

The service starts with a hot towel:

My mother took the Delta special cocktail with Gin:

I had a glass of the sweet wine:

Over the UK:

The appetizer tray looks promising:

And it was! I loved the soup and the shrimps, only the salad was a bit bland.
Still over the UK:

Drink glasses:

The cutlery:

I had the chicken:

My mother the pasta:

And my father the fish:

Everything was really nice, we all loved our choices.
I had cheese and sunday for dessert:

And a coffee:

It is now time for a nap:

Outside view:

After a one hour nap, I stood up to have a drink and a snack:

The hot cookies were handed out, and they were terrible!

At that point we were here:

It's beautiful outside:

More snacks:

The first time we see ground since the UK:

The winglet:

Here, now:

Our plane:

The handset is clearly showing the age of the IFE:

The tray table:

The pitch:

The major problem with this seat is that there is absolutely no stowage apart from two small seat pockets:

And this shoes box, but where you can only feet one shoe :)

It's beautiful outside:

An hour close to Seattle, the light snack is served:

It was super tasty and I really liked it.

Followed by a tea:

Once the plates are cleared, we started our descent:

It was super foggy and we could only see ground shortly before landing:

Two beautiful DC10 FedEx:

Alaska Airlines:

And also Delta:

We landed on time but our gate wasn't free, we had to wait for 10 minutes until the plane left it and 10 minutes more becase the plane that was parked next to us wasn't well parked and needed to be re-parked.

A319 DL:

757 Delta:

Another plane shoot:

And eventually we are good to block.

There was lots of people at immigration, it took us 40 minutes but I have seen far worse :)
One of our suitcase came with a missing wheel, DL offered us a replacement until we could fill a formal claim after our return what we did.
Hello Esteban! Thanks for this long-haul business class trip report and keeping the English side alive alongside with istflyer! I am also currently writing on several reports and eyeing to publish them in January and February! I think we share the same opinion, I also would love to try that hot boiled water dish in the Air France lounge :)! Delta seems to have presented a solid long haul product at that time, apart from that cookie, regarding that all three main dishes were tasty and the light snack looking really yummy! Let's hope that the borders to the US will be opened to Europeans soon, as Lufthansa has some freaking hot deals in First Class from Helsinki and Paris towards there!
Many greetings from Germany,
FlyLars
Hi Lars,
Thank you for the nice comment! I also hope the borders will open soon, can't wait to go back to the states.
Bis bald!
Thanks for sharing! My wife and I flew to Paris from Minneapolis last year, and we found the experience to be very similar to yours as we were also on a 767-300. Delta One is great, and the food was very good.
Thank you for the nice comment. DL Business is (at least was, pre-COVID) always very enjoyable!
It's nice to be reminded what real service was like pre-Covid. It will be interesting to see if carriers come back to these same levels or quietly maintain some cost cutting...though, I expect that more from UA and AA than DL.
The 767 J cabins are getting a bit old, but DL have done a pretty good job of keeping them in decent shape, especially with the next seat covers with the new D1 branding.
Thanks for sharing and for posting this series ?
Thank you very much for the nice comment Kévin!
