Hi,

I arrived in the early morning in front of a quiet Terminal 2 at Munich Airport.
Only having hand luggage I skipped the Check In counters and directly made my way to the security check which was empty and a breeze.

Recently Covid regulations have easied in Bavaria and consequently some more shops and restaurants were open once airside.
Next to the Lufthansa Business Class Lounge the Seantor Lounge now is also open again for visitors. However it offers no other food service and only provides a very basic offering:
 - Water bottles
- Pre packaged bready, pretzels and croissants
- A selectiopn of coffeed and tea products (no self service but provided by a staff member)

The Senator Lounge in G gates area is rather dull and in wide parts also offers wuite old fashioned and worn looking seating. But I guess the next renovation is far away due to Lufthansa cost saving measures those days.

I did only spent ca. 20 minutes in the lounge before heading to my gate enjoying nice apron views on this sunny summer morning.

My Lufthansa A320neo was already waiting to receive its passengers on this Finland bound morning flight.

photo img_5285

Priority boarding started very soon and I was the second passenger on board. A friendly cabin crew welcomed every passenger at the entrance door distributing sanitizer towels.

photo img_5287

Business Class cabin was spread over 5 rows but very empty this morning - only 4 passengers would end up in the Business Class once boaring was finished. Anyway this flight was very empty - total number of passengers maximum 50 guests. This for sure is connected to Finland's very strict border entry requirements due to Covid.

Next to our plane another Lufthansa Airbus was waiting for its next journey.

This aircraft featured the new Lufthansa narrowbody seats - those being comfortable with a very good pitch.

A benefit however are the USB power outlets available on every seat.

Only the tray table is on the rather small side.

Boarding was completed very quickly and soon we pushed back for a flight to the North of Europe taing 2 hours 15 minutes today.

photo img_5293

We left Munich in direction East before turning to the North and soon reaching our cruising altitude in sunny and very quiet skies.

Cabin crew soon closed the curtains to Economy Class and the cabin felt vey relaxed and quiet.

photo img_5295photo img_5289

Service started soon in a very friendly and calm way by a cabin attendant distributing some cashews and asking for drinks before the main meal service. I ordered some tomato juice and water.

photo img_5298

About 15 minutes later the very friendly male purser came around and asked me for my main meal choice for breakfast - always calling me by name. Avaiable options were scrambled eggs or some sweet dish of wafles.
I decided for the eggs which were soon served directly from the galley. I was surprised to get such a huge tray and great choice of breakfast selections.

Looking better without plastic coverings. The napkin was a real cloth one and also placed on the tray were heated bread roll and croissant.

photo img_5302

The whole breakfast tasted very nice and was a perfect start for the day. More drink choices were asked and I ordered some tea and orange juice. Very nice to see that Lufthansa still serves this great tasting freshly squeezed orange juice on morning flights.

photo img_5303

Flight progressed very calm and we reached the Baltic Sea coastal area.

photo img_5307photo img_5309

The cabin crew was extremely friendly and helpful and came regularly to check for more drink needs etc. So I ordered some more tea and later on some more water.

Enjoying the quiet cabin and nice window views.

Just one week ago Lufthansa started their completely new buy on board service called 'Onboard Delights' in Economy Class on all short and medium hall flights above 60 minutes (domestic German flights however excluded). Economy Class passengers now only receive a small bottle of water and a chocolate for free - all other drinks and food have to be paid. Here is a view of the menu that was also available on this flight for Economy Class passengers.

Reaching Finland the skies got more cloudy and we started our descend into a grey and rainy Helsinki Airport.

photo img_5312

We reached our gate position on time passing some nice looking Finnair aircrafts.

Boarding was done via the rear door onto a bus bringing us to a dedicated entrance for Covid test center and strict border control checks.

Conclusion

This was a really nice Lufthansa experience: a calm flight with a very friendly cabin crew, a great tasting and nicely served hot breakfast. Hopefully Lufthansa will continue this level and bring back such a nice experience on more flights again - cost cuttings should not win.

Thanks for that new report. Differs completely from the precedent… So either it comes from a reinstallation of the service following the end of the COVID measures or it’s an improved service on longer flights. Let’s hope that this level will stay. The offer in the lounge remains a shame though… :(.

Thanks for another review just on point! Great to see that the SEN Lounge has re-opened now, too, looking forward to going there in three weeks, hopefully with good old full meal service then. In my opinion one can see the difference between Lufthansas high yield - low yield (tourist) policy here. Helsinki, with just ten more minutes of blocktime gets an awesome, full meal, while Palma de Mallorca, the most typical tourist destination and even Faro, with 3 hours and ten minutes of flight time, get a cold meal tray. It is nothing but a joke. Many thanks for the lovely report again, looking forward to the one of the return flight! Cheers!

Hi FlyLars, Thanks for your nice feedback - indeed this flight with Lufthansa was a very positive example. I also never understood their differentation between leisure and premium (capital city) routes. To me the flight time is the relevant factor and not the kind of destination. Lufthansa actually is totally lonely on the airline market with that strange strategy which is very confusing for customers.
