a route that is now history
Hello dear flight readers!
Today I will post a flight that will take me to London and that I booked a bit last minute, hence the routing that could be a tad easier:
Flight routing
- 1Lyon - Orly
- 2
- 3
Flying blue Miles earned with this flight: 168
Status earned: 2 XP
I had to change airports in Paris, so from Orly to CDG with a big suitcase ; the only advantage was to make me discover Orly, as I have only flown from there twice before..

If you remember these were the good old times when the luggage in the hull was included in the basic fare.
The plane of the day was an A320, in a domestic configuration.

at lyon - saint exupery airport

For once the checkin area was super quiet, having more checkin machines that people around!

Passing through security was easy and fast, as the huge majority of my experiences at Lyon.
The gate was Q06, as usual for Paris flight - both CDG and ORY.

If you walk to the side of the T2 terminal towards the U and S gates, where the Hop pier hub is, you can have a beautiful view on Q06 gate, to see our plane of the day… Sorry for the quality of the picture, I lost the original one.

onboard the a320
Aircraft: Airbus A320-214
Registration: F-HBNA
Engines: 2x CFM56
Age: 11 Years
Layout: Y178]
Observations: This unit is part of the domestic subgroup of the A320 fleet, it almost exclusively operates on domestic routes like today. This particular unit also served briefly on Transavia France for a few months.
Boarding started soon after and respected by order of priorities.
And of course like almost all of the A320 domestic fleet, we had these awful recarro seats.

As usual the safety briefing was performed the old fashioned way by the crew before taking off from 35L.
Service started soon after as it is a fairly short flight.
Not sure why there was no hot coffee on this flight available and the snack was something for the morning… a bit confusing it seems to be a breakfast pastry?

and the usual magazine review of Air France… With some really good pcitures of the southern region of Argentina.. and with PAtriiiiiiick!!

Two things striking though:
1. look how much more dense the Hop network was even just 2 years ago…

and you can really tell Ben Smith focused on fleet rationalisation…
now out:
A380, A340, Joon all together, ATR72 and 42, E145s and the CRJs currently going.. Transavia seems to be happy thoug!

Soon after we landed at Orly airport..
Look at the Plus Ultra A340 (a former AF) and the ER145 on the foreground.

at paris - orly airport
Last turn before reaching the gates at what is now Orly1 with a view on Orly2. YOu can see the B777 to the overseas used to depart from there (nowadays Orly3)

Picture of our bird

and from the arrival floor, where the windows aren't smoked!!

Orly didn't leave me the best of impressions… Arrival was quite loud, the terminal a bit dirty and impossible to find where the bus to CDG was departing from..
