the legendary 717-200 or MD-95 as it shall be called

Welcome back to another flight report. You can check the link above for the flight on Spirit Airlines coming in to Vegas. Now on the B717 back to Seattle.

On the day of departure, let's get the day started on Shake Shack, best burger IMO

The airport

Let's head to Las Vegas Airport. Not the easiest airport to access, Uber/Lyft seems to be the best way to get there. About a 15 minutes ride from the Stripe. For your reference, we stayed in the Planet Hollywood Hotel

Las Vegas Airport has a really small airport when you consider they have flights from Europe and Asia flying directly here.

Not surprisingly, there is a Centurion Lounge in the LAS. I guessed you can find a lot of Amex member in the city that is world renowned for it's casinos.

Today's gate is actually a bit far away which involves us taking a shuttle to the gate

The flight

We are flying on Delta Airlines today on a legendary Boeing 717-200. Very rare to find a twin engine aircraft that the engines are mounted on the tail of the plane. Specifically for the purpose, I reserved my seats in the back of the aircraft to better feel the engine.

Here is our aircraft, N960AT, first delivered to AirTrans in 2001. Sadly at the time of writing this flight report, the aircraft is still in storage since March of 2020. Hopefully, this bird will return to the sky once we put the global pandemic behind us

Delta configured the economy class into a 3-2 configuration which is actually a bit cramp. But considering most of the flights this aircraft flies are regional and short. Should not be a big problem.

Seat Pitch is find for me at 175cm. it does has a pocket for stuff. However, in 2017, it does not offer AVOD/PTV for economy passengers

Here is a taxi-takeoff video for everyone to enjoy the sound of the rear mounted BR715 engine

At Row 28, you are literally sitting next to the engine which is quite an experience. It was very loud the entire time, and you can definitely feel the vibration coming from the engine.

Unlike Spirit, Delta is a "full-service" airlines which means you get snacks and a free non-alcoholic beverages. The Biscoff tastes better than the mini pretzels. Flight attendants are very nice to go around and ask if any passenger would like some extra snacks and drinks

Because this aircraft does not have a AVOD system at the seat. Wifi is provided, you can access movies/TV shows by connecting your personal devices to the inflight wifi. Internet connectivity is also available, Free messages are provided (Text only on FB Messengers, Whatsapp and other applications. If you are a T-Mobile customer, you will get free access to the internet. I hope to see more collaboration between companies and airlines.

You can also enjoy the flight map like a real AVgeek after connecting to the wifi.

Conclusion

I will try to upload some of the videos that I still have to youtube and link them to the flight report.

Sorry for the short report, a lot of the photos are lost since this is from 2017.

In short, the 717 is a must-fly for any enthusiasts, it is not as comfy as a new A320/737 nor as quiet as a A350 but it is an absolutely amazing machine
