Hi,

Being on transfer at Changi Airport I did some spotting before heading to the Singapore Airlines Silverkris Lounge.

The Silverkris Lounge is nice and airy with different seating sections. It was rather crowded but I could still find a rather quiet place to spend ca. 2 hours in the lounge.

There is a nice selection of self service drinks plus a wide range of alcoholic drinks from a serviced bar.

Several food stations offer a cold range on self service buffets while hot food is ordered from the staff.

Here is my selection during the stay - I especially liked the dumplings.

The toilet and shower area was also very clean, nice and huge.

Singapore Airport unfortunately has a strange boarding gate setup with security checks at each gate and being stucked afterwards inside the gate until boaridng. Nonetheless the process was quick and after some 15 minutes of waiting priority boarding soon started.

I was greeted friendly at the aircraft entrance while not being escorted to my seat (which however was the case on my previous longhaul flight from Europe). The cabin ended up almost full very quickly.

The Airbus 350 applied on this route is Singapore Airlines medium range product with Business Class seats that go full flat but all in all somehow different than those on the longhaul planes. Actually the seat is nice and comofortable while I enjoy the seat on the longhaul version more because of the more roomy layout, wider seat and much more personal storage space in the seat area.

Blanket and pillow have already been placed on the seat.

A small compartment provided a bottle of water, Covid protection kit and noice cancelling headphones.

The seat also featured a nice and fancy pull out mirror.

While boarding continued a flight attendant approached me, confirmed my prebooked main dish from Book the Cook service: lobster. She also asked me for my drink of choice after take off - no welcome drink however was served on the ground.

No printed menus are offered by Singapore Airlines anylonger - so I had to look it up on my personal phone via the WIFI function of the plane.

A dinner service would be provided on this night service, however without any kind of refreshment or small breakfast before landing.

Delectables that could be ordered any time during the flight as well:

Soon a flight time of 6 hours 50 minutes to Sydney was announced, we pushed back and the safety video started to play.

The video monitor and especially the remot control were very nice and much more modern than those on the SQ longhaul version A350 I have arrived earlier from Europe.

We powered into dark sjkies and climbed to cruising altitude. Soon my selected choice of a glass of champagne was served together with the signature tasty chicken satays.

At this moment I unfortunately noticed that my seat had technical issues and could not recline or move at all. The cabin crew tried to fix it for a while but was not successfull. In the end I had to move to a different seat - luckily there was exactly one left in the whole Business Class cabin. However it was not my first choice in the last row of the whole cabin. Still it was a window seat and it least all worked fine technicall here. The crew apologized serveral times and very politely helped me to repack all my stuff to the new seat.

I ordered a Silverkris cocktail to get comfortable in my new seat - however I think it is not the most tastiest cocktail around.

photo img_9208

Now it took really a very long flight for such a late evening flight until finally dinner trolley reached my seat and the table was set nicely with the starter and a choice of drinks. The smoked salmon starter tasted fine nontheless.

photo img_9209

Drink refills were offered several times and eventually my very tasty preordered lobster main dish was served. This Book the Cook meal was really tasty.

Some time later the dessert trolley appeared and I ordered some cheese and the cake.

photo img_9214

Along with it I had some tasty Vanilla Bourbon tea and a glass of Japanese plum liquor.

Once the meal service was finished, cabin was quickly darkened and prepared for night rest. I converted my seat into a bed and managed to get some comfortable hours of rest before we started descend into a still dark Sydney where we landed slightly ahead of schedule on a dizzy, rainy morning.

So great to read FR on SQ with departure from SIN.
I missed so much this airport.
And again, SQ is coming back with high quality of service on the market.
    Thank you.

Thanks for sharing this 2nd leg of the trip. I've been really wanting to get back to Australia, but of course that hasn't been possible for the last few years. Now that AU is finally open again, hopefully can do a trip next year.

Service is consistently good along with 1st segment (minus original broken seat) and catering is very well-presented, which has become rare these past few years of rudimentary service on most airlines.

How was the transit experience in SIN. Was it pretty simple and quick? I imagine at the height of the pandemic it was much more difficult with so many restrictions in place.

    Thanks for sharing!

Hi - sorry for the late reply. Transfer at SIN was surprisingly easy and felt am
Lmlst exactly the same like in pre Covid times. Only the free tours into downtown still missing and some shops closed or with reduced opening hours. But all in all a very smooth experience. BR FlyAlex
