Hi,
I arrived early at a quiet Qantas check in area of the International Terminal 1. There was no dedicated Premium Economy area so I first headed to the main cabin check in area.
However there I was informed that I could use the Business desks to which I headed then. Check In was friendly and quick.
Once airside I walked around and had some views on the apron and some Asian widebodies waiting for their flights home.
Next I headed to the Qantas International Business Lounge. In general no lounge access is included in Premium Economy, however some days before departure I received an email inviting me to purchase a lounge access pass which I did for 60 AUD. The lounge is located on the upper level at the end of a long corridor.
The entrance area looked nice and soon I was inside the lounge.
The Lounge was busy but not to full and there were many different seating areas.
The Lounge has a rather nice atmosphere but looks a little bit outdated and worn in some areas. Some areas also are rather dull and dark looking while others have a more open and bright design.
The wahsrooms were nice and clean.
There are several buffets which offer a reasonable choice but nothing spectacular.
The center of the Lounge has a nice bar style seating with a serviced coffee station at the end.
This is my selection I had during my stay.
Approaching my boarding gate and the iconic A380.
Boarding started in an organized way and with a calm atmosphere.
Cool to be on famous flight Qantas QF1 :)
Premium Economy is on the upper deck and by this shares airbridge with Business Class.
A very friendly crew welcomed me at the upper deck door and I passes a very nice and comfortable looking Business Class cabin.
However I headed to the far end of the aircraft into a very nice Premium Economy cabin.
The seats looked very stylish and modern.
My seat was in the center block. It had a very good pitch and was comfortable.
The seat features a clever design including a helpful small storage area at the front seat, e.g. for your mobile phone or glasses. It is the small things that make the difference!
On the seat were waiting a high quality blanket, pillow, a stylish amenity kit and good headsets.
Also a printed menu was already waiting in the seat area - always nice to have those.
Atmosphere was very friendly and relaxed and soon I was offered a welcome drink where I opted for a glass of sparkling wine.
We pushed back with some delay and finally headed into the afternoon skies for a flight of ca. 7 hours 50 minutes.
Service started with distribution of bottled water.
Next it was aperitif time with some nuts and pretzels. I selected the Qantas signature cocktail 'Sky Spritz' which was really good. It was very nice that real glasses and porcelain where used in Premium Economy throughout the entire flight - that is not that common with many competitors in that cabin class.
Some 30 minutes later the friendly crew served dinner which was really tasty and very well presented.
The dinner service ended with a nice cup of coffee and some cognac digestif.
Ca. 1 hour 30 minutes before landing the flight ended with a tasty pre arrival snack with two warm main dish choices where I had the tasty samosa.
I enjoyed some good movies and head a visit to the lavatory section in the end of the cabin where some stairs go down to Economy cabin.

Hi Alex, thanks for sharing the QF W report!
This service/catering is on par with most TATL J products, not surprising that their W products are years behind what QF offers.
Overall, a very enticing hard/soft product and likely very good value compared to what J fares run. Cabins look so clean and modern, but it is expected when they are battling EK/SQ on most ex-Oceania markets. Thanks again for sharing!
Thank you for sharing this FR. :)
Wow. A good flight with a refreshed A380. The catering looks very promising too.
I hope I can fly to Australia onaboard such a beautiful aricraft.
We could say the same about the superjumbo as well...
Have safe flights. ;)
Fantastic report as always!
Very cool to see a report on Premium Economy in the refurbished A380s! It’s good to see the QF 380s back flying period when so many carriers have retired their fleets during the pandemic! The seat looks really nice and the service very high end for the premium economy sector. QF never fail to impress.
