Hi,

We are back for a week-end with friends in the Baltics.
Not a lot of options from Paris to Riga, we will fly on the Air Baltic A220.

I am very happy to fly back on an A220, and especially to try it on a 2nd airline.
I keep in mind a not so good memory about Air Baltic, on a flight back from Tallinn on a Fokker 50, then on a B737-300.
I hope the new A220 of Air Baltic would help them improve their level, especially when seeing the price of the flights (250€ go and turn).

The routing will be the following.

Routing

  • BT692 - Economique - Paris → Riga - Airbus A220-300 You are here
  • BT693 - Economique - Riga → Paris - Airbus A220-300 Coming soon

I arrive at CDG airport by train, direction the terminal 2B.
Ast impression, the terminal feels new, it has just ended its renewal.

The FIDS

Nobody at Air Baltic desk, but bad news, our flight is delayed of 30 min.

photo img_3199

Lugage check, common between 2B and 2D, it's new, fast and the staff is very kind.
To go to the gates, we meet with the orange corner.

photo img_3203

New shops have appeared on the common area between 2B and 2D.
The renew of these terminals is a good surprise.

Thanks to huge windows, a nice spotting is to come : :)

A320 néo Swiss :

And our A220, which has arrived with a delay over 30 min

photo img_3213

Pre-boarding is lauched, a low-cost reflex, which is to my mind not useful for Air Baltic.
I continued to spot to board the last
A319 Finnair, in oneworld livery

photo img_3219

Then, it is our turn to board.
Nothing to say, A220 matches well with Air Baltic livery.

Passage through the "Business"

Then, my seat : the 6A

Air Baltic is branded everywhere in the aircraft

photo img_3224

Pitch is more than royal for a low cost carrier.
The seat, is not as good as Air France A220, but is more than ok.

photo img_3225

Sight on our PW 1500G, colors of Air Baltic are everywhere

photo img_3226

One advantage compare to AF cabin is the "almost-individual" screen.

photo img_3227

A safety video is broadcasted
Not bad for an A220 !

photo img_3228

Air Baltic is really proud of its  A220

photo img_3233

We will pushback with a delay of an hour.
Passage in front of LH and Air Malta

photo img_3234

Then, once again, next to the orange corner of the T2B

photo img_3235

We will meet an other low-cost, with a different green color, on its way back to ORY

photo img_3241

We aligned in front of this wonderful B777 in skyteam livery of AF

photo img_3246

Takeoff over AF E&M

photo img_3249

And, soon after, a clear blue sky for our flight

Sharklet always BK branded :

I will spend my cruise time by the window and on the IFE geovision

photo img_3259

Cross over the Northern sea

photo img_3261

We will start our descent over a very dark sky

photo img_3267

And, under, it is even darker, even if it is only 2pm

Not a lot of life next to RIX

photo img_3274

Landing with a 40 min delay

photo img_3277

B737-8 Max of SkyUp, which is not really in its place in RIX :(

photo img_3279

On ira se parker à côté du roi de la low-cost.
Décidement, RIX semble être un aéroport très low-cost friendly.
Même si Air Baltic a très nettement réhaussé le ton avec ses A220

We will go parking next to the low-cost king.
RIX seems to be a very low-cost friendly airport.
Even if Air Baltic has improved a lot with its A220

photo img_3280

Deboarding directly on the tarmac, and its -7°C in RIX

photo img_3285

It is really Air Baltic kingdom

photo img_3288

Many options available to join the city center

photo img_3290

We decided to join the city-center via the Bus 22, in 20 min (for 1,70€)

Thank you for sharing this FR!

The BT A220s are very sleek looking in their livery and share the grey/lime green ambience of their neighbors to the north (AY). The fare is not very LCC, yet the service is^^

The seat belt choices in the “J” seats on BT are quite unique.

Nice to see a report on the BT A220! It's really a beautiful aircraft inside and out! The cabin still looks nice. I've yet to fly on an A220, but am glad that it's turned out to be a popular aircraft after a shaky and uncertain start.

    Thanks for sharing!
