Homecoming (London to taipei via hkg, episode 1: cx250)
Background
Time flies, especially when you are having fun. After 10 fulfilling days spending the CNY with my sister in London and going around the city, it is time to return back home for daily routine of work.
I left my sister's place around 12PM by Uber and reached Heathrow Terminal 3 around 12:45. I thought there would be some traffic conditions at first, but the ride to the airport was a lot faster than I thought.

One last photo of the Big Ben on my way to the airport.
Heathrow Airport

Heathrow Terminal 3, where most Oneworld airlines operate. This is where my Cathay Pacific flight departs.

The peaceful departure hall.

The Cathay Pacific check-in counter yet to be opened. There were some passengers already checking in for Royal Jordan besides the CX counter.
Check in + Security Checks
I arrived ahead of schedule, and since the check-in counter was still closed, I went to find a place to sit down until the check-in opens. Based on my experience last year, the Cathay Pacific check-in queue was NOTORIOUSLY LONG! Last year, It took me about 1 hour to queue up and check my luggage in x(
In order to avoid this dreadful queue, I decided to be punctual and arrive earlier. As a result, I was the first in the queue to check in my luggage when it opened at 13:20PM.
I also expected the security to take a bit of time, but just like the check-in, everything went smoothly. Praise God for that.
Waiting in the departure area

Although checking in and passing customs went smoothly, I have 4 long hours to kill in the departure area. I decided to go and eat lunch first.

A plate of fish and chips would be nice, before my flight back to Asia.
After lunch, I rested in the seating area until my boarding gate was shown in 16:35. The Gate number is 40, the same gate where I alighted from CX251 ten days ago. The walk from the main seating area to the gate was another long walk, so I did a little plane spotting on the way.

The Long and Winding Road (Fan of Beatles anyone?)

Virgin Atlantic planes.

Latam B777-300ER bound for Sao Paolo.

When I arrived at the gate, the Cathay Pacific passengers were not the only people waiting here. There were also passengers waiting to board flight Virgin Atlantic VS300 to Delhi, departing from the neighboring boarding gate. VS300 departs around the same time as CX250.

My ride for the night: CX250, A350-1000 aircraft.
Boarding
Boarding began at 17:10PM. We were called to board the plane by seat range because the staff want us to board in a smooth and timely manner. The walkway was rather short.
The Flight

The comfortable seats again! My seat is 60A, a window seat.

IFE.

The in-flight menu.

Pulling back, with a shot of VS300.

Taking off.

See you next time, London!

Legroom, and no seat in front of me.

I went for the chicken and pasta. Good stuff here :D
Fell asleep when the lights went out after I ate. That was 9 hours before I reached Hong Kong.

I woke up about 2.5 hours before landing in Hong Kong, we were above China at that point. Time really flies!

Breakfast: Omelette and sausage. Restaurant standards, just the way I like it <3
By the time I finished breakfast, Hong Kong is in sight!

Flying over HK

Landed!

Taxiing to the arrival gate, and here are the other Cathay Pacific planes.

Alighted at HKIA! From then onwards, I went to the Transfer area for a security checkup before boarding CX402 bound for Taipei!
Until next time, thanks for reading :)
Leaving so soon???
Call the police. Somebody straightened it! XD
Don't forget to take some cookies with you if you fly with them. Take it from me!
I thought the same when I saw them!
That's fantastic! I'll keep 60A in mind.
No doubt about CX's main hub!
Beautiful photos of London. Sorry to know you couldn't stay longer with your sister. Well, that means more trips and more reports!
Thanks for sharing! :D
A perfect flight! Printed menus in Economy are unheard of anymore, even in pre-pandemic times they were rare--and they've even disappeared from Business class on many carriers since the pandemic.
All that legroom! It doesn't get better than that for a long-haul flight.
Thanks for sharing!
Wow! That really is some nice product from good old Cathay. Really wish to try this out on long-haul some day!
The seats look outstanding and comfortable to me, especially for your seat where you don't have a passenger in front of you! The meals look pretty nice and appetizing (Especially with the ice cream haha). The printed menu is very unexpected for Economy, from my past experience. Nice little touch.
I sure do hope Cathay Pacific can maintain service with such high quality in the future.
Thanks so much for sharing!
