Hi,
I did not have any luggage to check in - so I passed the very empty check in area of Terminal 3 early in the morning.

Security was very quick and soon I was airside.

Unfortunately the Saudia Lounge is closed for renovation - so the common usage Hayyak lounge was the replacement today.

It was ok with some nice apron views, but the food offer was very limited and not nicely presented (all in a single usage take away packages).

My choices:

Some Saudia aircraft waiting on the ground.

The A320 for my flight to Munich was also getting ready.

Boarding started perfectly on time and I took my very comfortable lie flat Business Class seat - rare to find such a good cabin on a narrowbody.

Seat pitch of course was excellent.

Waiting at the seat was a blanket and pillow:

Water bottle, a menu and headsets were also already there.

The headsets were branded as First Class and were nice and of good quality.

Soon I was approached by the friendly crew and asked for my welcome drink choice, being able to select anything from their drink list. I decided for a smoothie. It was served with a nice hot towel.

Next amenity kits and covid sanity packages were handed out.

This 6 hour long flight would feature breakfast and provided several options.

Saudi coffee and a date were offered next.

A safety video started and we pushed back.

An Islamic prayer was also shown before take off.

We taxied to the runway and soon took off.

Climbing to cruising altitude.

Soon I was asked for my breakfast choice and I ordered the Western dish: eggs with steak. Drink orders were also taken at the same time.
Unfortunately then it took almost one hour where nothing happened at all - no pre meal drinks etc. Finally a nice table cloth was laid down.

Sadly the whole breakfast was a one-tray meal placed on my table. It was ok but not super tasty - especially the warm main dish was rather bland and the meat very dry.

After the meal tray was taken away, no more proactive service happened for the remaining 5hours flight. However the crew was always happy to serve drinks on demand.

We passed some nice scenery like the Red Sea area. Apart from that I watched movies.

I was surprised that no second stack at all, not even a snack basket was served before landing - especially as the flight was scheduled to land just after lunch time.
We crossed the Alps and descended into Munich to arrive on time.

Thanks for reading,

Hi Alex, thanks for the report.
I didn't realize Saudia had lie-flats on narrowbodys, this is very interesting on an A320. Looks great for short-to-mid distance trips.
Interesting, maybe it had to do with time of departure and the fact it was a daytime flight?
