The Lounge
At MAD, we went to Puerta Sol Lounge. There are two lounges in the terminal which you can use but I did my research and found out that this one is nicer. And it is! Lovely runway view, you don`t see this often.
Seating is nice with a lot of options including cinema or meeting rooms for business meetings.
The food selection is also good, with a few fresh and many packed sandwiches. You also have a huge selection of drinks and wines, e.g. when you are into bubbles, you have at least three options including an organic one!
The problem was with cleaning as only one person was clearing the used dishes…
I also took a shower and enjoyed it! Superb organic shampoo included!
The Flight
Boarding was a little mess but let`s forget it, we are flying the future!
This is something we were really looking forward to!
ITA plans to use their new A321neo aircraft for flights to medium-haul destinations like RUH or JED and therefore the cabin consists of business, premium economy and economy. The product is just phenomenal!
The first row has an extra space, for this short flight, it was bookable for 40 EUR.
The crew did not turn on the IFE so we spend the whole time looking at this…
But as we experienced a hard landing, the system restarted itself and we have a few minutes before leaving the aircraft to check it. It looks pretty good!
Wifi also available, messaging is for free.
As the meal was again terrible and the same as the previous flight, I think we might miss it this time.
We then spend again some time in their Hangar Lounge and I had their lovely Fly Up cocktail!
Now that's a beautiful narrowbody cabin!
Not bad for the extra space. I assume it's free for top-tier elites to sit there?
HAH! So the IFE was shaken to life 😂
Too bad the catering is so mediocre, but I guess it's good you were able to get in to the lounge on arrival. It's rather rare for an airline to allow lounge use on arrival, so this is a positive point.
