INTRODUCTION

Hello everyone, welcome to my review once again.

This the last leg of my flight in October 2024, continue my journey from Taipei to Hong Kong with flight CI923. This must begin with the delay arrival on my last leg, CI101.

TRANSIT IN TPE

My last leg of my flight CI101 finally arrived at Taipei at 17:49(GMT+8), which 39 minutes behind schedule, and the scheduled boarding for CI923 was 17:40(GMT+8), I’ve got a risky transfer at Taipei!

When I was waiting for the cabin doors open on CI101, I told the cabin crew that I’ve got a tight transfer as my connecting flight is now boarding. “Don’t worry, we’re used to waiting for guests to board, we must send you to your next flight on board.” The cabin crew said.

Once I alighted from the plane at gate D5 of Terminal 2, Taoyuan Airport, the ground staff was holding a sign for connecting CI923. The staff said I am the only one to connect this flight, how lucky I am!

I jumped onto a golf cart which prepared, the cart drove along the arrival level form gate D5 of Terminal 2 to the interchange gate of Terminal 1 which near the gate A6.

BOARDING

After the security check, I walk speedy to gate A2, it has been changed to “Final Call” status.

“Am I the last on to board the plane?” I asked the ground staff.

“No, you are not the last one” the ground staff replied.

It was 17:57(GMT+8), I got on the plane again.

Once I boarded the plane, something goes strange as a the crew members were standing around row 16 and 17. Two men who sit on row 39 changed their seat to row 17 privately. The purser took some time to get them back.

Loading of Business class was about 100% and the economy class loading was about 95%.



CABIN SEAT

Sit pitch of economy class was about 31 inches.

There are no personal TV on each seat, just a small TV shows the flight map on top of the cabin.

The flight pushed back at 18:19(GMT+8), 9 minutes behind schedule time, and take off at 18:41(GMT+8).

AVOD SYSTEM

CI’s B737-800 doesn’t have personal TV on every seat, as mentioned above.

However, China Airlines got a inflight entertainment system called Fantasy Sky Portable Wireless System, passengers can use their mobile device to connect through the wi-fi onboard. The “Fantasy Sky” includes movies, TV program, music and flight tracking.

I used to login to the “Fantasy Sky”, but I couldn’t see the flight tracking.

Meals onboard




CATERING

Since there’s only one hour flight time on this flight, there’s only one choice on the meal service.

The menu today are as follows:

• Cold bean sprouts and mixed vegetables
• Minced pork and shiitake mushrooms noodles
• China Airlines x WooTEA x CHIIKAWA crossover, Ruby red tea flavoured rice snacks
• China Airlines x WooTEA x CHIIKAWA crossover, Peach iced tea

Coffee and tea also served afterwards.

The catering service this time was just fair, not good and not bad. Noodles with minced pork taste salty, rice snacks taste good.

DUTY FREE SERVICE AND DECENT

After finishing the catering service, the cabin crew proceeds the duty free service, the flight began to decent.

The seat belt sign of this flight turned on all over the flight journey.

The flight touched down at Taipei Taoyuan Airport on 20:01(GMT+8) and arrived at gate 10 on 20:17(GMT+8)



IMMIGRATION AND BAGGAGE CLAIM

Since the flight was parked at gate 10, I didn’t walk too long to the immigration. I only took about five minutes to finish at the immigration.

The baggage was sent out in efficient, this time I got my baggage in short time, what a lucky.

Conclusion

To be honest, this leg of my flight experience is not good. Crews seem a bit rude due to in a hurry to finish the service flow, like two rows of passengers didn’t get their meal tray on meal distribute.

Ground staff at Taipei were so efficient and organised, so I could catch this flight for transit in less than 10 minutes time.

The four leg of my flight experience with CI overall is good, as this is my first time flying with them. Some people still deny to get on CI due to their poor air traffic accidents history. We can see the effort that CI has put on everything, air traffic safety, detail on service etc.

I’m sure that CI will be one of my bucket lists to fly, if I have a chance in the future.
