Doha Transit experience
After arriving from Zagreb, we had 4h of transit time in Doha Hamad airport. This meant that we had the leisure of exploring the airport instead of the mad rush 15 days ago.
I brought my parents to the Al Maha Lounge using my Priority Pass and we had some snacks. The lounge is open 24h a day and serves light food and drinks, including alcohol.
The hummus in the lounge is amazing, one of the best ones I've tasted. I wonder if this is the same hummus they serve in business class for their arabic mezze.

After the lounge visit, we left for the further concourse where our flight to Singapore was departing from. I came across this sight and it reminded me of Jewel at Singapore Changi Airport.
I wonder who copied whom?
A criticism of Hamad Airport is that the signs aren't intuitive nor frequent enough.
We took a couple of minutes to find the E gates after we got off the people mover. More frequent and intuitive signage will be better.

We arrived at the gate to see the plane taking us to Singapore. It was A7-BAE, a 15.9 year B777-300ER.
I sighed at that point in time as I was not looking forward to the cramped 3-4-3 arrangement on the B777-300ER.

We boarded the plane and took our seats. I'm 1.77m and the seat pitch felt similar to the A350-900 but the width is very tight. I did not take a photo of my butt on the seat but I could definitely visually tell the difference between a 17 inch width seat and an 18 inch wide seat on the A350 and A320.
My shoulders also touched my father's when we sat down, this normally doesn't happen on any flight.
I shudder in fear to sit on these seats if I'm obese.

The seatback pocket contained the safety card and the vomit bag, as usual.

The cabin was about 70% full tonight and I quickly ran to take a row of 3 seats after takeoff.
This is also QR's oldest cabin product, as evidenced by the IFE monitors. Despite the age, the IFE worked very well and was sensitive to the touch, unlike their A320 screens.

After takeoff, the crew turned the mood lighting on for a snack service.

Supper service was a choice of chicken sandwich or a tomato sandwich.
I picked the chicken sandwich and got a rum with coke and a cranberry juice.
The sandwich looked visually unappealing but tasted amazing. The chicken filling was seasoned perfectly.

After the snack service, I tried to get the crew to make me a Bailey's white russian, a drink I get on Singapore Airlines.
I recalled it contains Bailey's and vodka, but the Bailey's ratio was off, there needs to be more Bailey's.
The crew also gave me a packet of crunchy corn, which I've brought with me off the flight.
I hooked up to the Wifi after the snack, and wow, it's the fastest plane Wifi I've used. Starlink Wifi was even fast enough for me to scroll Instagram and even launch and play Maplestory Mobile, a Korean mobile game known for being extremely particular about internet connections.

2h before landing, the crew started the brunch service.
There was a fruit bowl which tasted fine.
The passionfruit yoghurt was delicious and I'm happy QR catering did not skimp on the passionfruit sauce, unlike SATS catering in Changi airport.
An infused croissant was given but it definitely needed more butter or jam for flavour.
Qatar Airways gave 3 choices for mains, which I found to be very generous.
1) Blueberry bread pudding. I picked this and thought it tasted fine. The bread was not soaked long enough to achieve the pudding consistency.
2) Cream cheese chive frittata with sausage and hash brown. My father said it tasted ok.
3) Japanese soy sauce chicken with rice. This choice ran out before the meal cart got to us.

I looked out of the window and took some pictures

Perhaps this is Batam airport?

The plane landed really smoothly. It was the smoothest B777-300ER landing experience I had. Kudos to QR pilots on all 4 flights for making good landings.
The flight landed punctually and offloaded us in Changi Airport Terminal 1, where we collected our bags and went home.

In conclusion, Qatar Airways does deserve its 5 star rating for economy class and provides consistently good service in economy class.
I wish the same can be said about its customer service though.
Thank you all for reading!
