Hi and welcome to the return portion of my ORD weekend trip.

AA DFW-SFO in F - http://flight-report.com/en/share-8118.html

After my hearty dinner the previous night, I decided to wake up early to do some exercise at the hotel's fitness center. You know what they say a moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips. Once I finished my routine and took a shower, I grabbed a quick bite from the uninspiring breakfast buffet and then headed to the airport.

I was dropped off at T3 and the domestic side was getting busy.

On the other hand, the counter for intl flights, especially JL was blissfully empty.

I made the Priority line to clear security and it moved slowly. As I approached the conveyor, a TSA agent was reminding people to empty the pockets and place everything on the trays. This particular agent was having a bad day judging by the way that she interacted with other passengers by being snappy and lacking patience.

Once I made it to the other side I collected my items quickly and by now it was about 3 hrs before my flight, so I went to UA's terminal and spent some time visiting a few of its clubs to kill time. I sometimes do not use the corresponding lounge for the flight that I take, so I'm a little bit unusual in that sense.

Going over to UA and passing by the AA Eagle terminal.

UA CLUB T1 by gate B6

I was welcomed by a very friendly agent with a big smile and was invited to proceed upstairs to reach the lounge. There is a small sitting area in front of the Customer Service counter where I settled for most of my stay. A bar is located in the back.

UA CLUB T1 by gate B18

You go down through the stairs in order to reach the lounge. In addition this lounge has a strange setting with a ramp connecting to a lower level.

UA CLUB T1 by gate C16

No stairs going up or down. Everything is in one level. This is the biggest one with a shower and views to the ramp. In addition the Business Center is quite large with individual cubicles for privacy.

After my UA lounge hopping, I returned to the AA T3 and upon entering I am reminded of the movie Home Alone.

Boarding was quick and once I settled in my seat the FA offered PBD consisting of water or orange juice.

Bye ORD

Service started with a hot towel, followed by warm nuts.

Today's flight was a snack and there was a choice between a cold grilled beef salad or chicken wrap. I had the beef salad and it was served with the slices of beef on a separate plate. Overall I enjoyed this dish. The strong flavors of the blue cheese and slices of purple onion complemented the robustness of the beef nicely. Too bad that there was no warm bread to accompany this dish.

To end the meal, warm macadamia and white chocolate cookies were distributed. The FA also offered chocolate chip cookies in case you did not want the first choice.

Finally we were ready for landing at DFW. It was a hot day so there were a lot of boats on the water.

The houses look the same.

Caught this S80 taking off.

Thank you for this report, the cabin looks very outdated. Catering is ok though.

It's time to refresh the cabin seats. I'm surprised AA did not use the merger as an excuse to introduce an updated cabin with the new logo.

From some reports that I have read, it seems that catering has gone downhill since the new integration.

      Thanks.

    Thanks for sharing this FR

Beautiful pictures as usual even if recently a lot of FRs in french are raising the bar very high

Comprehensive visits of ORD UA Clubs.

UA clubs are beyond the space-time ;)

I remember this UA Club and its carrots : it was few years ago, no few centuries ago, no I can't remember exactly

The wine selection is not really attractive

Old cabin and old seat : at least it seems that you didn't have a neighbour

I would prefer a burger any day instead of this salad (where is the olive oil ?) and this cold beef

Great pictures of DFW before landing and the S80's take-off

      - Your compliments are always appreciated. It's great that we have so many talented reporters here at FR and to be with such illustrious company encourages me to try harder. ;)

      - Some things are classy and stand the test of time. :P

I remember this UA Club and its carrots : it was few years ago, no few centuries ago, no I can't remember exactly
      - At least you have good vision from eating all those carrots.

The wine selection is not really attractive
      - well, it's free.

Old cabin and old seat : at least it seems that you didn't have a neighbour
I had a chatty college student as a neighbor who kept asking me about mergers when I started reading the Financial Times.

I would prefer a burger any day instead of this salad (where is the olive oil ?) and this cold beef
      - I agree with you, but a burger would have been lunch, this was a snack flight and they were supposed to serve something light. Perhaps olive oil would have been more expensive than the industrial salad dressing.

Great pictures of DFW before landing and the S80's take-off
      - Capturing a plane taking off so close while you are on the runway is a rare treat.

      Thank you.

Nice pictures indeed ! They help me getting used to the new AA livery.
I wonder if the lounge by gate B18 has any interesting view ? It seems to have a lot of natural lighting.
The yellow parts of the German and Belgian flags look curiously faded, unlike that of the Spanish flag. (We'll know next week if the Union Jack is to become a thing of the past).
I imagine you could get lost in these neighborhoods of endlessly identical houses.
    Thanks for sharing !

I did not try to take a look outside from that lounge, but it seems that the view might not be that great if UA installed blinders. Remember that this lounge is located downstairs, so perhaps the view is of the ramp and plane spotting is not optimal.

Hopefully the Union Jack will be on BA's tails regardless of the outcome. It's a distinctive trademark of their brand.

I personally don't like cookie cutter houses and prefer neighborhoods with more individuality.

      Thanks for stopping.
