Hi and welcome to the last segment of this weekend trip to ORD.

AA DFW-SFO in F - you are here
After arriving in DFW, I was welcomed by a blast of heat as I exited the airplane. It was 97 F or 36.1 C on this summer day and I couldn't wait to get back inside the cool terminal. I took the Skylink mover to my connecting terminal and waited at the gate. There were 3 FA's on this flight that eventually occupied the first row of the F cabin - probably deadheading to SFO.

Boarding was called at about 30 min. before dept. and I was greeted by the FA at the door upon entering. This time I sat on an aisle seat and unfortunately was unable to take any aerial views.

I noticed that pre-dept. drinks were not offered and upon reaching cruising altitude after take off, our FA started the service without any assistance from his colleagues. Usually another FA working in Y would come up to the F cabin to assist during the meal service. Perhaps our flight was short staffed.

Followed by warm nuts.

Luis - our purser, was fantastic and addressed everyone by their last name when he took the meal orders. He even knelt down and looked me up when he was talking to me. Dinner consisted of a chicken Marsala with mushrooms accompanied by Parmesan risotto and broccolini or some kind of stuffed pasta dish.
When my tray arrived, it was presented with a shrimp appetizer, salad and main dish. Warm bread and drinks were offered. I had the wheat roll and a glass of water and white wine (perhaps Chardonnay).

The shrimps were plump and nice

Decent salad with some vinaigrette dressing poured on it already.

Chicken Marsala. It tasted fine but presentation could be better.

After the meal service, another FA helped clear the trays and she asked me if I wanted the ice cream for dessert. I was surprised that I was not given the choice of either cheese plate or ice cream. On previous flights, a FA would pass with a tray with both selections. Strangely enough, I saw the FA serve a cheese plate to a passenger sitting in the second row.
Strawberry ice cream with shaved chocolate.

I was asked if I wanted coffee or tea after the meal service but I declined. Afterwards, Luis came around with a tray of tomato juice, sparkling water Bailey's on the rock which was a nice touch.
There was a comedy show playing on the screens which did not interest me. At the end of the flight, a tray with mints was offered as a thank you gesture for flying AA.
Once we landed, our FA made the announcement by saying well, we made it… which gave some people a good laugh. I was thinking that in a way this was a nice way to bid adieu to AA's Advantage program after so many years. Hopefully the grass would prove to be greener on the other side.
Thanks for this new report. I am quite favourably impressed by the catering on this flight which looks very good. AA is far from being my favourite US airlines ( it was long ago) but I must admit that this flight is very good.
Thansk for sharing
You are very welcome and thank you for your comment.
Judging by recent comments on the new catering alignment with US, I believe that this meal belongs now to the good old days category.
Thanks for sharing this FR
You were lucky with this upgrade
This is an usual US company meal
This kind of shrimps is most of the time tasteless
I'm sorry but I can't find the salad, nor the chicken appetizing
Is that really a risotto, lol ?
Anyway you had a great crew and it's important
See you soon for a new FR
You were lucky with this upgrade
Yeah, I prayed hard and crossed my fingers.
This is an usual US company meal
Perhaps not for long. It seems that more enhancements are coming.
This kind of shrimps is most of the time tasteless
Maybe size matters for some people. :P
I'm sorry but I can't find the salad, nor the chicken appetizing
No need to apologize for giving your credible and trustworthy opinion.
Is that really a risotto, lol ?
Maybe a re-interpretation.
Thank you for your comments as usual.
Gracias por compartir este recuento de tu viaje! Luis certainly would appreciate your kind compliments.
An acquaintance just flew AA international F on a B777-200. Breakfast was frozen bagels, Kraft cream cheese inside disposable containers, jelly packets, juice from concentrate, percolated coffee, turkey bacon quiche and three pieces of thawed previously frozen fruit slices. Yum!
The wine selection consisted of Gloria Ferrer Sonoma county sparkling - 15 euros per bottle -. A white that could double as glass cleaner for the lavatories. A red that no master sommelier would dare attach their reputation to.
Hope this answers your inquiry as to the improvements Mr.Parker gets paid millions of dollars to concoct.
Es un placer contar con tu presencia y comentarios.
Somehow I am not surprised by AA's lackluster service. We all knew that this was going to happen when the industry consolidated into a few players and did not have to compete as aggressively for market shares and customers.
Mr. Parker gets paid handsomely for keeping his investors happy. It's a shame to see this once proud and trendsetting airline deteriorate at such rapid pace. There are airlines that offer much better value for your money and a lot of us are voting with our wallets.
