Hello everyone! It’s great to be back with new report!
This is the summary of yet another pleasant trip with Indonesia’s flagship carrier, Garuda Indonesia.
Just before the peak of Sakura flower season, I managed to snag a really good price on a return ticket to Tokyo and back. This Y ticket costs me USD 509,- (after tax), which, at the moment of purchase was the lowest price ever, thanks to GA’s midnight sale program.
So around 7:50 PM, I headed to the airport. Traffic was so friendly for a Monday night. Barely 40 minutes in, I’ve arrive at Soekarno Hatta’s airport Terminal 2 safe and sound. Having already performed online check-in, there wasn’t really any hustle. But I went through the security check early so I can rest prior to this red-eye flight.

At around 10:20 PM, I went to the waiting room. My flight was served by the Airbus A330-300 PK-GPF in Skyteam livery. Boarding was about 20 minutes late, which in my opinion is still fairly acceptable. I settled for my seats.

Prior to taking off, Water and Wet Towels were distributed. Take off was 15 minutes late, and as soon as we reach cruising speed, amenities kit were distributed, and also light snack was served. It was probably the best snack I ever ate in an airline ever. It was a stuffed flatbread, filled with Spinach and Cheese. Light, yet fulfilling, enough to help me sleep!

I managed to sleep for about 3 hours before woken up to the beautiful sunrise on my window.
IFE system that night was responsive, vast array of movies to watch, but one thing worth noticing is that the moving map on my seat wasn’t working at all. So bummed I can’t see how far/where we are at the time.
Breakfast service started around 2 hours prior to landing. I choose the Japanese option, it was Miso marinated Chicken with Rice, Soba noodles, freshly cut fruits, and bread. BUT NO BUTTER. Weird. Well, I ended up using the leftover miso as the flavorings for my bread, it still tasted good though :)
We landed 20 minutes ahead of the time. Aircraft approach was nice, no bump whatsoever. Immigration and Baggage was, as usual of a Japanese standard, fast and punctual.
Thanks for the FR.
That was a very good fare for a round-trip CGK-HND, domestic airfare in Japan is usually more expensive than that for a 1-2 hour flight.
Distribution of water bottles pre-departure is a nice touch by GA. The catering looks very good for this segment with a light snack post-departure and breakfast pre-arrival. The protein quantity looks very good and the Yakult made me smile. I've never understood why the star-shaped carrot makes an appearance on almost every meal, must be garnish of choice for Asian carriers.
No moving map is definitely a let down. Those weirdly shaped tray tables make me miss the good old fashioned rectangular ones.
Are the amenity kits always the same? This time you had a green kit, but on the returning flight, it was a blue kit.
the amenities kit are identical, they had several colors for the packaging, including the red ones
What a fab breakfast!
it was! energize you long enough until you reached the ground!
