Hello and welcome to this Flight-Report!
In February I decided to make a trip for two to Canada for one Week which consisted of visiting the cities of Toronto (Where I have been last year for only one night during a trip across Northeast America) and Vancouver (Never been there before).
So this trip consisted of three flights which I booked at lufthansa.com:


- AC873 (booked as Codeshare LH6676) Frankfurt (FRA) - Toronto (YYZ) B773 in Premium Eco ( Look over here )
- AC115 Toronto (YYZ) - Vancouver (YVZ) A321 in Eco ( You are here! )
- LH493 Vancouver (YVR) - Frankfurt (FRA) B744 in Premium Eco ( FR coming soon! )


Because of taking a look at some flight reports of domestic AC flights I was quite prepared of what I could expect - no free meals (apart of some pretzels), but IFE. That sounds okay.
After spending a couple of days in Toronto, we continued our journey to Vancouver which was also quite a good thing because the temperatures rose pretty much over the last two days here.

At YYZ airport


After arriving at the airport with the UP Express train and dropping our baggage, we went straight through to the security checks. This took less time than we thought so we quite had enough time for a rest.

This 737 MAX just left our gate D43 when we arrived there. It went to Montreal if I recall correctly. Our flight was scheduled for an A321 unfortunately.

After around 20 minutes our Airbus arrived from Halifax - C-GJWN which already wears the new colours.

Boarding


Boarding started absolutely on time - let's check out the interior of this freshly painted bird.

Well, the interior was quite some years older than the paint, but still clean and well-maintained (at least on the first impression, that should change…)
The legroom was okay for the length of this flight, load factor at around 95% I suppose.
You have to pay for receiving headphones, luckily I had some in my hand baggage.

After Takeoff


Soon after taking off from Toronto, free non-alcoholic drinks and some pretzels were offered. Then it was time to check out the IFE. Let's begin with the map — bad idea. This task was too much for the aged IFE system :-D

Furthermore, it turned out that all the USB ports and power sockets of the three right seats of this row were broken. Either these seats need some better maintenance or replacement in the future :-(
The very friendly and attentive crew did their best and tried to reset the system which was successful - until the IFE freezed again a few minutes later. After another two ineffective attempts I decided to put it off - much better than this bothersome white screen!
Obviously I wasn't the only one with that problem…meanwhile water was offered.

Before leaving our cruise altitude of 34000 feet, free non-alcoholic drinks were offered once again - I chose orange juice.

Arrival in Vancouver


The landing at YVR Airport was on-time and we received our bags after only few minutes of waiting

The SkyTrain was a great choice to get right in the heart of Vancouver City.

Vancouver offered beautiful weather and great views, I must visit this city someday again, that is for sure :-)

Conclusion

Altogether I unfortunately have some mixed feelings about this flight.
Although the interior was a bit dated, the seats were pretty comfortable for flights of this length - better than many new interiors. The cabin was absolutely neat.
Unfortunately the IFE was a disaster and USB/power sockets were broken.
A small meal would have been appropriate for this flight ( for AC being rather no low-cost airline, isn't it? ;-) )
However the cabin crew was really great and attentive on this flight.

So, for the next time when I book a domestic AC flight, I will look for other equipment than those aged A319/20/21

  • Thanks for the FR. Would have thought Air Canada to provide their customers with a much better service to be honest for a five hour flight.

      Well, many european airlines unfortunately go the same way these days, like BA for example, but routes within europe are usually not that long.

  • HAHA!! Horrible AC, i had flown this sector, and can't believe airlines not offer any meal services for flight duration of 4 hours and 30 minutes. Think about Asia, Thai Airways and Singapore Airlines done much better job at this point. Shame to AC!!

    I was on AC 126 last time from YVR-YYZ, September 2017, the crew are MEAN..... The trolley hits my leg, and the crew stared at me without apologizing....

    AC = Cheap Budget airlines, I will never fly them again.

    • So I had more luck with my crew this time :D

      Their long haul product was nevertheless really good in my opinion. For domestic flights I'll consider Westjet next time.
