Hi everyone!
Welcome to my Flight Report. In this report, I want to share with you about my short vacation to Bali with Indonesia AirAsia. I decided to choose Indonesia AirAsia because it was the cheapest price compared to other low cost airlines with the same route, such as Lion Air and Citilink, even though the flight schedule wasn't comfortable (at night). I went to the airport at 16:00 and arrived at 17:00 because it took approximately 1 hour to go to the airport from the city center with normal traffic condition. I parked my car at the overnight parking slot because it's safer than the normal parking slot. The overnight parking slot has a one-gate system, where there is only one main gate for incoming and outgoing access in order to get out from the airport, and there is a security guard post at the gate which guarding the car for 24 hours non-stop.

I left my car at around 17:30 and proceeded to the airport building. Before entering the building, there are two x-ray machines to scan the body and luggage. After the security check, there are shops and a food court inside the terminal building. Here are the photos.

After passed the shops, I proceeded to the departure gate where you have to show your boarding pass or itinerary to the security in order to enter the check-in area.

I dropped my luggage at the baggage drop counter because I already checked-in through AirAsia mobile app and printed my boarding pass with the self check-in machine at Tunjungan Plaza.

After that, I went to the second floor while waiting for the boarding call.

At the end of the second floor, there are gates where you have to scan your boarding pass in order to proceed to the boarding gates.

I scanned my boarding pass and the machine didn't open the door while sounded tot tot tot… The airport staff told me that the boarding gates at the second floor are only for Garuda Indonesia domestic flight (left) and other international flight (right). I looked at the FIDS and noticed that Indonesia AirAsia departed from Gate 1 which means at the first floor beside the check-in area.

Previously, Gate 1 was only for Garuda Indonesia domestic flight with ATR72-600 and Bombardier CRJ-1000 fleet, while Indonesia AirAsia passenger boarded the plane through the second floor. If the plane was in the remote stand, passenger had to go downstair from the second floor gates and took the bus. Now, passenger have to go through gate 1 and board the aircraft through the aerobridge at the second floor.

Boarding call was made at around 18:20 and final call at 18:35. After the final call, I boarded the plane. I passed the gate and went upstair to board the aircraft through the aerobridge at the second floor.

Pushback

Waiting for the take-off clearance from the ATC

Take-off was smooth. The plane was almost full and flied at 23.000 feet. Here are the photos for the cabin

Landing was as smooth as the take-off. After landed, the plane passed through big plane, such as Garuda Indonesia, Indonesia AirAsia X from Narita, Emirates, and KLM bound for Singapore.

Eventually, the plane was parked beside Garuda Indonesia Airbus A330-300 (PK-GPO) with the aerobridge facility

After the plane made a complete stop and the engines were shut down, passenger disembarked from the plane

I walked through the aerobridge and entered the domestic terminal building

I went to the toilet and took my luggage from the baggage carousel

Behind the baggage carousel, you can see the apron through the transparent curtain

After I grabbed my luggage, I walked out from the terminal building and proceeded to the pick up area

I actually make the same mistake at the boarding gates.. youre right, airasia should use the second floor gate instead of that gate 1...
