Hello amigos, happy 2022
This once I'm covering a my spring break trip to…Cancún (how original for a US student…)
The cheapest way we found to CUN from DC (that wasn't NK) was WN, which proposed the following routing for us:
Enchainement de vols
- 1WN 783 DCA-FLL
- 2WN 5362 FLL-CUN
- 3WN1602 CUN-BWI
I liked this routing as it allowed me to maximise my plane and route count.
So without further ado…on to the FR
At washington's reagan-national
While DCA conveniently counts with Metro conection, DC's metro started operations after my check-in time. So I had to take a Lyft to the airport. It didn't take more than 20 minutes at that hour of the day…sorry for the blurry pic, it was quite cold that morning!

WN doesn't operate from Pelli's masterpiece terminal, but the heritage terminal dating from the 1940s. It had been renovated sometime recently so you didn't really tell how old the building is on the inside.

I find odd how the baggage claim is just in front of the check-in area, there wasn't too much of a queue for using the self-check in booth and then dropping my bags at the counter.

Everything was very efficient and hassle-less.

There was some serious weather up northeast, but fortunately it did not affect our flight down to sunny Florida.

I met with my friends and then we went through security and then waited sleepishly to board.
Boarding WN's 737
Nothing to write home about WN's 737s. Back then, they seemed quite spartan. Nowadays, comparing to what IB, TP, AV and the like are deploying, WN's seats seem luxurious.

enroute to ft. lauderdale
We took off from RWY 1 which allowed for gorgeous views of DCA in the morning light ( my crappy camera didn't made justice to the view). We then circled over the city through the north and then lined southward towards FLA.

I had downloaded the whole season of a series that was just starting to be popular on my iPad for my IFE

It was quite cloudy so there wasn't much else to see at the begining, but then we could see the snowy fields in what I assume was Virginia

Then catering came by. I had some apple juice to wash down the cookies and peanuts that they handed us.

I slept most of the time until we made it to the "tropics".

FLL in sight!

Our little stubby "chanchito" headed on to FLL, where we landed on RWY 28R. I was provided nice views of Ft.Lauderdale's downtown and Pt. Everglades.

The competitor…

Snowbird carrier

An airline I never had the chance to try

And…then, we parked on the B concourse, where our plane to CUN would be waiting for us.

Stay tuned for the rest of the trip to Cancun.
GASP! También los conoces como chanchitos!!
I love flights along the coast. Always so scenic.
Parece que Southwest es de lo mejorcito entre las aerolíneas domésticas en eeuu, no? He leído buenas referencias. Y no sé por qué estoy pasando de castellano a inglés y de inglés a castellano. I’m nuts.
Gracias por compartir! :D
Saludos!
Hola Chibcha, happy new year!
Oh cool, we were living in DC at the same time!
It looks so much better than I remember it
Thanks for sharing!
Happy new year to you too!
I hope you have enjoyed your time in DC!
Thanks for passing by!
