Hi,
Entering the small terminal building of Funchal and proceeding to the Check In where luggage drop off at the priority counter was quick and friendly.

Fast Track security also worked fine and soon I was airside.

Funchal Airport offers a lovely apron view terrace in the airside zone. I went there to catch some views on the waiting planes.

Next was a visit to the ANA Lounge which Business Class guests have access to. It is very small but in friendly colors. It only offers views on the sea and unfortunately not the apron.

Food & drink selection however is very limited in this lounge.

I only had a snack.

Boarding started ahead of time and it was a nice walk directly across the apron.

Here some shots of the splendid looking Edelweiss A320:

A very friendly welcome on board and I took my window seat in the front cabin.

Pitch was really good.

Water, pillows and refreshing towels were waiting on the seats.

Still on the ground the friendly cabin crew already took meal order for the warm main dish: I selected the beef with the other choice being a vegetarian Ravioli dish.
A view on our neighbour headed for Copenhagen:

Boarding soon came to an end and the safety video played on the overhead screens when we started taxi.

Taxiing on the runway towards the sea before turning around.

Quickly climbing out of Madeira and turning in the direction of the sea for this 3 hour 30 minutes flight to Zurich.

We climbed through some clouds until we reached cruising altitude.

Edelweiss offers complimentary entertainment screening on your personal device:

Curtains to Economy were closed now.

Soon the very friendly and chatty purser laid out linen table clothes (extremely rare for European flight but a nice feature!). This was then followed by an Apero service. I ordered a very nice glass of Rosé Champage with the crackers.

In a very relaxed timing next the starter tray was served including excellent warm and crispy bread from a basket.

Drink and bread refills were provided countless time - a great and very personal inflight service that felt like being on a longhaul flight.
Next the very tasty warm beef main course.

Followed later by a very tasty caramel style dessert:

Lunch service finished with some excellent Swiss chocolates offered from a nice box which I had with a cup of coffee.

Enjoying some views outside, e.g. crossing Lisbon.

About 1 hour before landing some different snacks were offered from a basket along with more drinks.

We reached the Swiss Alps when descend started.

The Edelweiss Air signature farewell sweet of Biberli was now distributed.

Finishing the flight with a hot towel.

Descending into Zurich with some great views.

Landing ca. 30 minutes ahead of schedule and passing the E gates pier.

Docking at A gates pier.

A final view of my plane of today's perfect flight.

Nice report as always. Good to see a recent report on Edelweiss medium-haul business. It looks like it's as good as ever. It's always funny to me how the LHG leisure/holiday subsidiaries like Edelweiss and Discover have better amenities on short/medium-haul than the big mainline carriers, like the streaming IFE and pillows. I also love that they have rosé champagne!
Thanks for sharing!
