The GOL Smiles Lounge in the International departure area.

Plenty of space in this lounge to relax or work.

Great apron views too, perfect for any avgeek!

Food was so-so. I played it safe with a couple of pieces of bread (which were quite stale) and a chickpea and vegetable curry (this was great).

My husband tried the guava cake along with a couple of traditional Brazilian desserts including these little chocolate brigadeiro made from hot condensed milk.

Our 777-200ER aircraft arrives from Buenos Aires (EZE). The flight makes a brief set down/pick up here in Rio de Janeiro (GIG) before continuing on to LHR.

Seat 27G in the small, forward (only 5 rows) World Traveller (Economy) cabin.

Boarding the blue mood-lit Boeing 777-200ER back to LHR.

The IFE was fairly responsive but it infuriates me how BA only load 2 or 3 episodes of a 10-episode strong series. You get into it only to realise you can't watch the rest!

The one and only drinks service on this flight. I opted for a ginger ale (pre-dinner).

BA's first Economy meal service. This was absolute dire and had a synthetic, soapy taste. It consisted of an inedible cous-cous or farofa style starter with olives and mixed vegetables. A tomato and cheese pasta main (this was really awful!), a bread roll that was still frozen, some crackers and a piece of dubious cream cheese, a very bland 'school-style' chocolate cake and a 250ml bottle of Harrogate Spring still water. This was an appalling offering and we didn't receive anything else for a further 8 hours.

I am a fan of BA's blue mood lighting. Makes the cabin feel very cosy!

Then breakfast arrived, I opted for the full English breakfast. I ate it because I was so hungry but it was equally poor. The whole meal was swimming in fat (see below). It was accompanied by a fresh fruit salad (two pieces of watermelon and two pieces of pineapple) and a marmalade muffin. This was served with a glass of orange juice (probably the best thing on the tray!).

Should an English breakfast be served with this much fat?!

The toilets were clean and well stocked throughout the flight.

Both my seat and my husbands seat had this identical defect. A piece of plastic missing which had simply been taped over. Another one of BA's bodge-job maintenance tasks?!

Touchdown into Heathrow. Is that a rival I see?!

Sadly, a 45 minute wait for bags this time at Terminal 5, something that seems to be getting increasingly worse when flying BA. What's your experiences? I'd love to know.
Always nice to sit in a mini-cabin no matter the class of service!
So true! I fly BA so much I’ve seen all the episodes of the few series I want to watch and keep waiting for them to post more or newer ones! To be fair, many airlines do this but it is so annoying.
I may be wrong but I believe this aircraft was a 777-200ER. I was under the impression they retired the handful of non-ER 772s a few years back.
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Kevin, I’m glad I’m not alone - super infuriating, especially when it’s something you want to watch! Yep, it was the 777-200ER. I used to work on the old 777-200 fleet when I was at Gatwick as Cabin Crew for BA. Glad you enjoyed the watch.
