Driving to LAX on Christmas Eve was a breeze. I arrived at a pretty empty Terminal 4. A minor issue at check-in: agent said the computer could only print out a baggage tag for four flight segments, but my itinerary had five. That means I had to pick up my bag and recheck-in at HKG.

On the tarmac, about to take the shuttle bus from Terminal 4 to the remote terminal.

I was the only guest at the Admirals Club. It was nice to have the lounge all to myself. It's a small but decent lounge, in US standard.

Conclusion

This is only the start of my five-segment journey from Los Angeles to Taipei. I created the itinerary this way because I wanted to try the Japan Airlines business class (next report) and have a long stopover in Tokyo; and of course, also because I like to fly, especially on premium cabin.
I was pleasantly surprised by the cozy lounge at the AA remote terminal, and the new cabin and seats on the E-175. It was a comfortable hour long ride to SFO.

Thanks for sharing this report with us and welcome aboard.
It must be nice to be alone in the lounge.
NIce leather seats and real business seats for this short flight. I like the embraer family aircrafts as they usually provide good comfort even in economy.
In flight service could be improved with at least a wrap or sandwich instead of this pack of cookies.
Looking forward to your next reports !

Thank you for sharing this FR and welcome to the site!

On Christmas Eve at night, it's not surprising that the lounge and cabin were empty. The lounge at the AA Eagle satellite feels more intimate even though it is on the small side.

The new AA cabins on the E-Jets are really nice looking, much better than the older seats on the B738s or the ex-US planes. Only one pass of the snack basket? The only bad part about this flight is that it is at night so you don't get all the great natural IFE along the coast.

I guess I could ask for more snacks, but I was saving space for some Japanese food on my next flight :)
That's true, but I did get some night view of the bay area while approaching SFO. I took some pictures, but they were all blurry :(

Every agent who saw my itinerary probably thought the same :P
There was one FA in first class and the service was actually pretty good.

Thanks for writing this report and welcome to the flight reporter community !

A 5-leg flight from SFO to TPE on XMas eve, you really belong to this group of crazy flyers....

Although the seat seems really very comfortable, the inflight service is really poor. How was the service from flight attendants ?

Thanks for sharing this report here! I also like the new AA E175s, the interiors are very modern and comfortable. The Admirals club in the regional terminal is really small but very cozy and often empty in my experience. The E175 seems perfectly suited for AA's regional OPS out of LAX to feel the international and transcon flights.

That means I had to pick up my bag and recheck-in at HKG
    - That's a shame, though luckily immigration and security at HKG is usually quick and easy. I've been able to get the next airline to retrieve and retag my bags in HKG and SIN before at the transfer desks or lounge.

Looks like I need to catch up on your other reports :-) Looks like an exciting routing!

    Welcome to Flight-Report!

Though not comparable to my HKG-TPE flight on CX, this was a great flight in US standard.
Very exciting indeed! The outbound itinerary alone involved numerous hours of planning and calling AAdvantage more than 20 times to optimize the routing, but it was well worth the effort.
      Thanks for reading!
