2. Qatar Airways QR1110 DOH-BAH Boeing 787-8 - http://flight-report.com/en/report-14015.html
3. Qatar Airways QR1107 BAH-DOH Airbus A320 - http://flight-report.com/en/report-14110.html
4. Qatar Airways QR664 DOH-CMB Airbus A340-600 - You are here.
After clearing the transfer security screening, we freshened up a bit and headed to the departures area, one level below.
At the intersection of Concourse A, B and C.
FIDS
Our gate was C1 so we weren't needed to walk long.
We had plenty of time for boarding so we decided to stay in the concourse area until it was 45 mins to departure.
Our flight, it was the same aircraft (A7-AGD) which we flew here from Colombo.
Boarding commenced about 30 mins prior to the departure time.
Boarding was swift and I settled to my seat in the front economy section.
The flight seems full tonight. We started to push back around 02.10 a.m.
While taxiing…
We again took off towards north and turned eastward to fly over the gulf.
After about 45 mins from the take off, the crew started distribute meals.
Choices were chicken or vegetable rice and I opted for chicken and pineapple juice to go with it.
This time it was actually rice! Served with chicken and dhal curries. Tasted good.
The salad, which I didn't find appetizing.
Pudding for dessert. Nothing amazing but no complaints as well.
Cheese.
Overall the meal was satisfying.
After clearing the meal trays, there was another drinks run and I chose coffee.
Cruising at 37000 ft.
I wrapped myself in the blanket and fell fast asleep and in less than one hour I woke up to see this.
The crew was really active. They constantly kept checking the cabins to make sure all passengers are comfortable.
Entering India over Kochi.
Leaving the east coast of India.
Very calm in the daylight.
A Crew member performing the ritual against the evil insects before landing.
As per the Sri Lankan govt. regulations they say!
Descending over the Palks strait.
Entering Sri Lanka over the northwest coast.
Lining up with runway.
Touchdown!
We landed 10 mins earlier than the schedule.
EK's 773 A6-ENO to Dubai .
UL's A333s.
A stranger from Indonesia is here. An B738 of Sriwijaya Air.
We reached the immigration to find very long queues as there was a Saudia 777 arrived at the same time. It took about 10 mins to clear the immigration and we reached the duty free area and then to the baggage claim where it took an eternity for our baggage to come out. These are few things CMB should improve. We booked a taxi from the airport taxi service at a reasonable price to finish our journey.
Hope you enjoyed this series of trip reports and your comments and suggestions are welcomed.
Nice report!
Great to see some pics from Colombo Airport.
I remember my father took this flight in June 2015 - it was an Airbus A330-300.
He did, however, fly on A7-AGC (A346) on DOH-DXB.
Lovely shots of the sun rise! It felt like a long flight. :D
The insect spray thing is done on all flights to India and Sri Lanka I have seen (airline examples include - Jet Airways, Air India, SriLankan Airlines, Emirates, KLM, Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines..) Pretty weird.
Thanks so much for sharing!
"I remember my father took this flight in June 2015 - it was an Airbus A330-300."
At the time I was booking, the flight was mentioned in the ticket as Boeing 787-8 but they indefinitely postponed the introduction of Dreamliner in this route, and remained with high density A346. I was looking forward to have my first Dreamliner flight but didn't end up in disappointment as my DOH-BAH flight was eventually changed to same.
"The insect spray thing is done on all flights to India and Sri Lanka I have seen".
Yes, even few friends of mine confirmed it. Indeed its a weird routine.
Thank you for your feedback!
