As I mentioned in the previous report I had about 6 hours until my next flight.
Though I can sit back and relax in the lounge, Changi is a place full of attractions so I wanted to wander around a bit.
First stop was the Sunflower Garden at Terminal 2.
Ok, what about moving to T3?
Movie theater, located next to the sunflower garden.
Little bit of spotting while on the move…
Skytrain to T3…
FIDS for all Changi depatures.
Towards SilverKris Lounge in T3.
My boarding pass was scanned and I was let in.
The lounge was not crowded.
I'm not going to review the lounges much as they have been reviewed many times before in this website.
The selection had no. of varieties from Western to Indian to Chinese. But the selection was limited in each.
Desktops with internet access.
Entrance to the First Class section… someday!!! ;)
Going back to T2 as FR24 showed me that some A350 action is incoming.
Oh… A gate has been assigned already for my flight.
There she is ^_^
9V-SMM as SQ31 from SFO.
9V-SSB is docked at the Gate F50. This should be my ride back home.
Time for more spotting and some window shopping…
Profile of 9V-SSB.
Another A350 taxiing towards a gate.
Now I felt tired after all the walking. Time to head to the T2 lounge.
First thing I had at the lounge was a refreshing shower. The cubicles looked smaller than the ones in the T3 Lounge.
A moderate crowd was seen here too.
Dining area.
Some of my selections.
Its already time for boarding. The gate was not too far away from here so there was no hurry.
Just as I cleared security, boarding was called. So I went straight to the jet bridge.
My seat : 14K.
Pre-depature drinks and hot towels were offered as usual.
Unlike SIN-DPS flights, comprehensive menu with drink selection was at the seat.
I only included the pics of meal selections as the whole menu has been uploaded previously by others.
Pushback started just in time.
Waiting for take off clearance.
Off we go….
Due to thunderstorms we had to take a route further south than usual. But the captain assured there will no delay.
The meal service was bit delayed due to turbulence. Meanwhile I turned on an episode of 'The Big Bang Theory'.
A drink service was conducted before the supper. You can guess my choice!
The presentation was little elevated this time.
Meals were handed out separately for each course.
Appetizer : Scallops were on plain side but tasted good. Again, citrus salad was not to my taste.
Main : Classic lobster thermidor ; Pre-ordered via "Book the cook".
As I have read in the reviews before, this is a hit or miss kind of a dish. Apparently it was really good today.
70th surprise for dessert was perfect way to end the meal.
The crew was energetic and efficient as usual. Though they were not as friendly as the previous flights, they served with smiles.
I had a nap after it and woke up where were about to enter Sri Lankan coast.
Time for the final approach.
We touched down at 11.50pm, five mins before scheduled arrival time and after a quick taxi run, docked to a jet bridge.
End of my first trip with SQ.
Colombo airport gets really busy during this time. Lots of flights from both East and West Asia arrives at night.
It took about good 15 mins to clear the immigration due to this.
After a quick visit to the duty free shops, I went to claim the luggage at the ground level.
It was already there when I reached the belt.
I was really tired after a long day, so I booked a taxi from the airport taxi counter.
The fare was marginally higher but it was worth during this hour.
Thanks for this last sector of this trip.
Another good flight with SQ. I was hoping this one would have satay service... I figured maybe since it was over 1500 miles. Alas, perhaps the timing was wrong, or satay is only on still longer flights? Glad the thermidor worked out for you. I've heard mixed reviews, but have enjoyed it when I had it on SQ.
I don't know that I've ever seen the T3 SilverKris that empty. I didn't think it ever was, quite frankly. I've been there at some weird times, but it's always been pretty packed.
What else can one say about Changi? It's pretty much a worthy destination in and of itself.
Thanks again, and I look forward to your next adventures.
Hi Hometoyyz,
May be as you said its because of the supper time, they didn't serve satay. I wonder what is the threshold for that in SQ since MH serves same in their KUL-CMB flights. Me too was surprised to see SKL at T3 that empty. Well, I felt the time spent at Changi too little, even after being stuck their for 7 hrs. :)
Thanks for the comments.
Cheers!!!
Hi! What language were there annocements made in? English and Sinhala, English and Tamil or English Tamil and Sinhala or what? Thanks :)
Hi! I don't recall any other language than English being used for the announcements :)
