I had chances to experience Malaysia Airlines' business class before but they were medium haul flights. This time, I flew on a regional flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Kuala Lumpur. So take a look at my story on MH's short haul business class.
***Video report is below
I took this flight from Vietnam to Kuala Lumpur and then connected to Langkawi for my vacation. As I travelled on business class, the check-in process was quick. The agent gave me a CIP Lounge coupon and a fast track coupon for quick immigration clearance at Kuala Lumpur later.
At the security clearance at SGN, there was a priotity lane for first, business class and CIP passengers. That was great because before, CIP passengers still had to line up quite long. Everything was smooth, even at the immigration counter. I went straight to Rose CIP lounge to rest and wait for the flight. Rose Lounge is one of the best lounges at SGN although it's not as good as others at many airport in the world. The lounge has a great view to the tarmac and runway, where you can take photos. The lounge was crowded as it served many airlines such as Emirates, Jet Airways. Singapore Airlines, etc. There are also 5 other lounges at SGN international terminal: Apricot (newly refurbished), Orchid, Bamboo, Daisy and Lotus Lounge (Vietnam Airlines flagship lounge). The lounge food? Ermmm, acceptable. At least they have Vietnamese Phở. I love it.
The flight was on time. There was flight annoucement inside the Rose lounge which was very convenient for passengers just in case the flight was delayed. I got into the plane quickly. The flight attendant served welcome drink for business class passengers. I chose guava juice. I just think that guava juice is MH's signature fruit juice? Just kidding. I was impressed with guava juice on another MH flight from Kuala Lumpur to Delhi last year, also in business class.
The flight took off on time. The weather was great in February. I don't expect much for this almost 2 hours flight. Before the flight, the flight attendant took order for inflight lunch. There was no MH's signature stay. Well, it's OK. I chose Malaysian rice with normal chicken satay, not the signature one I had on MH's flight from KUL to DEL. The inflight meal was delicious and well-presented, not so unique or special compares to other airlines on such short haul flights.
The meal service was served not long after taking off. A big mug of coffee was also served to me before the meal came. I love coffee so a big mug was great for me. Beside the main dish, the salad was so so. The cheese cake was yummy.
I finished my lunch quickly and took a rest before landing. Seriously, I prefer the business class cabin on Vietnam Airlines' Airbus A321 than Malaysia Airlines' Boeing 737. I don't know why. perhaps I feel the A321 cabin was more spacious. Not so sure about this. Just the feeling.
The plane landed smoothly at KLIA. I used my fast track coupon for quick immigration clearance and go to domestic section for flight to Langkawi.
Here is the video report for this flight.
Another MH's flight report from KUL to DEL.
Beautiful FR! Really nice photos too. (:
Personally I'm quite okay with MH's B738 Business class. Felt that it's quite comfortable on my last ride from SIN to KUL. But it was too short, actually. Haha.
Thanks for sharing!
Agree! It's good enough anyway! :D
Gorgeous report as always! Love the planespotting. I've heard that MH flights are now dry on regional routes of less than 3 hours. I don't see any alcohol in your report--is this because it wasn't offered at all. Is it true that MH is dry on regional flights now? What a shame if true!
It was dry! Haha. I don't see alcohol choices in business class menu. I don't mind cos I don't drink alcohol.
P.S: There was some problem with the comment reply. I clicked SEND but it didn't show.
Yuck...I'll have to remember not to fly MH on regional. No alcohol, especially in J, doesn't work for me.
The comments are posting, but for some reason taking a few minutes to show up. We're looking into it.
